YES! So happy to see this released at last :) Also extremely glad to have been part of the journey!
Cheers to you, cheers to the Captain! :D

First of all this looks great! :D Congrats to the team!

1) I'd probably ask the players if they want it to be on or off when they click on "New game" rather than having the switch in the options menu. Other than that, what happens if I click on something when the game suggested me how to explore the environment"? In other words is the hotspot\objects interaction disabled in that stage? :)

2) I love stuff like the action popups a lot, but probably they break the immersion a little? I mean, I guess that if the game was set in some sort of virtual reality it would fit very nicely.
Still, I'd probably leave it just for stuff that usually is not that obvious, like "Kyle picked up the flashlight". Usually the inventory is what I get most bad feedback about, that's why I'm telling you (laugh)

3) I don't really mind, but beware of "info dumps"! Try to spread the information about the character(s) in smaller bits and pieces through environmental storytelling and\or other well placed occasions :) I'm guilty of info dumps a lot, by the way (laugh)

4) I like the UI as well as the character dialog closeups! The only thing I'm not sure about is the mouse icon, the one with the red and blue buttons, whenever you are hovering a hotspot. Is it context-based, meaning that it only shows what you can actually click (some hotspots may only be examined but not used, for instance)?

Keep up the good work, this is looking great!

It is! :D Well spotted!

I have to say: I discovered this game only in the past few years. To me it seems like one of those underrated gems that nobody ever mentions. IMHO it had lots of interesting features, for the time, but sure was tough as hell...

Here's a smooth longplay, anyway.

Also I always forget its right name, so putting it here now I'm pretty sure I won't forget it again (roll)

Nope, this one has a third person view. 2D sprites over a 3Dish environment.

Next hint will be another screenshot :)

Great game, but no :( (Of course it's knight-related)

I will supply some hints! :P I don't want to ruin this thread on my first ride! (Actually how does it work? When is time to stop and give out the solution? :D)

It is a C64 game, and that's probably obvious.

The screen I posted is a "loading screen" between levels and rumor has it that, at the time, it was kinda unusual to see such loading screens between levels because they were animated. Today we would call them "preloader screens", probably.

Yay! :D
You're right, anyway. I have just vague memories of the game itself, but not the characters or the game's art style.

I think I did never join this, by the way. How obscure can it get?

Will this do?

Just yesterday I stumbled upon this.

Ryan Hawkins, an industry developer, gathered some other industry artists to write a 300-pages long 215~MB PDF filled with tips, tricks, guides and tutorials about engines and techniques for 2D & 3D artits. Even if this is not so much related to this community, I think that could at least work as a pool of inspiration for many of us :)

Since it's free, why don't give it a try?
When I donwloaded it the download was very slow. I don't know if it still is, but anyway somewhere seems to be a torrent for it, but I didn't tried it.
