Nice!!! Can't wait to see what else you come up with in this module.

Not free and you need Unity. But I have used this before with great results: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/2d/characters/character-creator-2d-111398

If anyone is interested in giving this game engine that can create 3D voxel rpg's, shoot 'em ups and adventures... the engine will be completely free on the epic games store from today until December 8th, no strings attached:

https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/rpg-in-a-box

There have been numerous updates over the past two months to this tool so I think you may want to check it out.

Just a heads up, this jam ended and we started a second one: https://itch.io/jam/rpg-in-a-box-game-jam-2-of-2022
Demo versions are allowed to be used and there may be a secret prize for this Jam.

Wow nice! This is shaping up to be a great Android Development tool.

I tried this out. Great Work! Works like a charm. Just needs some configuration settings like loading in landscape mode, etc.. and this will be another notch in AGS' belt.

Just as a side note, which I should have put in the rules... You can submit games either as source, executable or both and usage of the demo version of RPGIAB is allowed. Also, another note... This is not my software.. I am just running a game jam ;-)

Hi all,

Long time no post. But I am here almost every day, watching, lurking...

Anywho, I wasn't sure the best place to post this. Looking back on the search history it looks like this is where it can be posted. I wanted to just publicize a game jam I am hosting for a developer I know who develops a tool called "RPG in A Box". If you are interested and want to give it a shot, I am hosting the jam here: https://itch.io/jam/rpg-in-a-box-game-jam-2022 and there is a forum with resources and tutorials if you need it. There is no actual theme for this first jam as we just want folks to get used to the software first. So just have fun with it! You could begin working on your projects now. Submissions take place on Feb 7th to the 28th. Voting will take place March 1st to the 7th. PS: Games do not need to be RPG's per se. The games just need to use the game engine RPGIAB.

Gotcha. I think I was thinking of AGS.Native.

I saw in the GIT Discussions that you are also rewriting the script compiler in c++. Was this originally part of the editor in C#? What is the benefit of the rewrite? BTW, nice job on that rewrite. I had been following along and it seems like a lot of work went into it with everyone involved.

I "Believe" SDL has

*better OS Portability support
*is used more widely therefore can encourage more contributors
*is used by SCUMMVM
*is an easier library to implement and work with than Allegro.
*has faster 2D Blitting
*integrates better with other libraries
*I also "believe" SDL has better 3D routines.

This is just some of what I understand of SDL and I could be wrong about it all.

You would have to write an AGS plugin that exports to Godot project files.

One more tool. Blit Paint. Great for making backgrounds:

A new sprite animator was released on Itch that is pretty cool. I think it would work great with AGS games and is very reminiscent of the Character Animator that was created for AGS years ago. Try it out: https://misterm.itch.io/mr-easy-sprite-animation
It is called Mr Easy Sprite Animation.

I have lost the source for the D3DVSync plugin but it was a single line in the initialisation of the graphics engine that enabled VSync. I'd argue that VSync should be enable by default anyway on D3D.

(Actually i'd argue that directX should be removed entirely in favour of opengl but whatever)

This would be nice one day. But no rush on this. AGS is great enough.

On a side note, since you sent out the e-mail today and made this a sticky (Can probably post this on AGS Blog too!) Has anyone with closed source projects come forward yet?

Already purchased Gemini Rue a second time for Android(Always try to do my the best I can to support AGS'ers that create commercial games) and gave Gemini Rue 5 star rating and review. More than any of the code that is available, I would love to see the full Android port seeing as you got past the Obb issues and even some user interface hickups. Great Job!

Is JJS doing that or are the Allegro people going to do that?

Anyone know where I can find a copy of Doctor Who: Time Snare 1 & 2? Been searching everywhere I know of. Even archive.org.

SDL is ok. However, I feel that SDL has been abandoned or at the very least, slowly upgraded. I know that SDL supports porting easily (Easier than Allegro anyway) to other OS. But Allegro is feature rich and powerful and it can be made to work with MacOS and other OS. It is supported after all, officially. With JJS and CW and everyone else working on this, I think we will see Mac support much sooner than we think. I think the trick is to actually try and upgrade AGS to Allegro 5. However, that may break a few ports such as the PSP port. But again, I am sure it can also be remedied.
