Are we allowed to use art purchased in humble bundles, etc., or only publicly available art?

One of these months I'm going to have a completed game, I'm just not great at art and the amount I can focus is limited, but the topic is interesting. Deciding whether it would be better to have a game plot revolving around this idea, or just to have a game that doesn't feature talking.

Hints & Tips / The long august longing

Spoiler
Sent out invitation, shredded some paper, cleaned all but 2 cobwebs, the room with the skeleton seems useless and I've tried every item on the skeleton, chairs, cobweb, and with each other. Can I get a pointer?

Never mind, I figured it out.

Spoiler
After examining the skeleton more I got it.

I was planning to have something playable, but my health these last couple weeks hasn't been great, and I only finished my font, lucasarts-style GUI, main character, and part of the first room.

Question, is reusing stuff like fonts/GUI in the spirit of the competition? Or does it need to be made from scratch each time even if I want to do the same thing?

Was playing around with AGS DOS lately and created an SCI font. Originally wanted it to be a 5px font, realized that it would appear too tiny on smaller monitors and in dosbox windows, so doubled it to a 10 px font (12px including whitespace and borders)

Includes SCI, WFN, and BMP formats. Font10 is the main font and Font10o is the border font.

These are a couple games that are very different.

Tales From a Forgotten Tavern -
Spoiler
A game which has a lot of references that I sorta understand, but not 100% - the only MMO I really ever got into was RuneScape. The puzzles were mostly OK, the pixel hunt was bad for me because it didn't exist in a walkable area, so it was easy to miss even when looking for it. But I liked the characters and the world building

I liked the video, reminds me of old games with the FMV which isn't really done in AGS. It was enough to draw me into the plot, but I did feel the ending was a bit abrupt. With more loops and more story this could be more interesting.

Although I feel like both games ended abruptly, I feel as a full experience that

is a better experience as a stand-alone game, so that gets my vote. If either game got an expansion into a full game/story though, I'd be interested in playing them.

I noticed that MAGS don't mention this anymore, but was it decided that public/outside graphics are allowed now?

Thanks for playing, Kitty Trouble.

Thanks,

Spoiler
I did look all over in the snow but part of the reason I thought I was wasting my time was that the snow wasn't a walkable area, so anything in the snow would need to be at the edge

Thanks, that was hard to see. I managed to complete the rest of the game after a bit of struggle with the next part.

I just tried out the game but I'm completely stuck...even tried brute forcing pretty much everything. Posted in hints&tips.

I'm no longer cold. I've exhausted dialogs. Can't find anything outside, leave the outside screen, or find radishes. Tried flirting/picking up the people inside. Don't know how I'd sleep on the floor, or check out the windows at night. Don't know how I'd find a game piece. Don't know how I'd get more clothes, or proceed to the boat. Don't know how I'd sober up the guard. The spider silk seems to be a thing for flirting or getting money later. The mysterious item seems useless.

Thanks

I expect this game to be kinda small in length and not that interesting, but the puzzles, interactions, and art are mostly done outside of coding them in AGS.

Title: "Escape the Room"

Setting: You are a visitor at a strange museum, and you find yourself trapped in a room with no obvious exit. The room is filled with strange objects and artifacts, and you must use your wits and resourcefulness to find a way out.

Credits of the game:

Story: Kitty Trouble No, actually the story was created by OpenAI ChatGPT.
Puzzles: Kitty Trouble Okay, I lied. The puzzles, dialogue, and responses for every possible interaction were entirely created by OpenAI ChatGPT as well.
Art: Kitty Trouble The objects, inventory, character, and menu are going to be designed by OpenAI DALL-E as well? Surely there's something I can do.
Programming: Kitty Trouble? Hah. It's not like AI can write code. Wait, ChatGPT is able to write code as well? Surely I won't be able to teach ChatGPT how to code in AGS by the end of December. TBA.

Okay, I'll be the one throwing everything together and managing interactions with the AI, but the gimmick of my game is that is will be entirely created by AI.

Hi Kitty Trouble!

Thanks for playing the demo.

If you're talking about the Steam version, that issue should have been ironed out now so I would expect the Steam client to show "Update" if you visit the game page now. People who reported this issue to me before have since reported it as fixed so hopefully all good.

The other issue has never been reported and I will look into it. I might contact you privately for more information.

No I meant the itch version, I thought the steam version wasn't out yet, but didn't check for a demo there

Hi! I enjoyed this little game. Just a couple feedbacks on the demo version:

-winsetup is pointing to Snow Problem.exe so it does not work without changing the configs
-using the mouse to click on pre-fall time auto scrolls while you have the LMB held down rather than doing it once for each click, this caused issues for me when tapping my trackpad as it registered 2 clicks.

If I end up getting the full version, I'll provide more feedback then, but the demo levels were fun.

I would love to work with an artist and maybe a writer on a AGS or non-AGS game. I just took part in the global game jam and I know I can do stuff, I just need help with art. There's a few genres I'm interested in, adventure, zelda-like, maybe RPG (much more involved though), platformers for a simple thing, or something that's unique. I'm a very busy person so this would be in my spare time. Let me know if interested or want to discuss more.

I'm not sure but I will say that I'm more likely to complete a mags if I don't have to do every graphic from scratch. That being said there are pros and cons.

I agree that public domain assets should be allowed for use.
