Can someone please give exact examples of where the dates are wrong?  I've poked around, and everywhere I've looked they're showing today
#42
Should be fixed!  It was a side effect of an SMF software update.

Quote from: heltenjon on Sat 19/11/2022 12:03:08I got my first Clean Talk blocks today...because I reported several messages as spam in less than 80 seconds.  :-D

But it's a bit disheartening that apparently some bots can get through the registration form. I wouldn't have thought it likely when you see it.

The new version doesn't have the custom registration form anymore.  I thought CleanTalk would be enough, but apparently not!

Every single registered user is on the whitelist, and has been for the last week or so.  Can those of you who are still affected please give me a bit more detail about what's happening?  Are you logged in, trying to post?  Trying to log in?

I would rather avoid whitelisting IPs if possible, since it's very imprecise.  I'll do it if I have to, but I'd rather understand the issue first to see if there's any alternative that doesn't loosen our security too much.

Quote from: AGA on Mon 31/10/2022 00:07:59Yup from me and Tamara!  I was planning on raising the subject in the new year, but looks like you got there first.

Would that just be the two of your or is this going to be a family thing?

We'd aim to bring our son; at very least get a separate place nearby wherever Mittens is hosted, if not in the main Mittens house.

Quote from: Crimson Wizard on Wed 05/10/2022 10:04:03I have this unusual usability problem, likely because I have mod rights in certain threads, "Quick edit" button also shows for me on other peoples posts, and I keep clicking on it occasionally when trying to reply... Good thing I was able to notice what i do wrong before saving the post.
Is there a way to make it more distinct when it's not on my own posts perhaps? I don't want to remove someones text by mistake...

I've changed the label to "Quick Edit (Other's)" on moderators' posts.

Quote from: eri0o on Tue 04/10/2022 16:46:16Trying to login in AGS Wiki takes me back to the forum, and when I access AGS Wiki, it's not logged anymore.

Work in progress!

I'll have a think about this!

Quote from: Laura Hunt on Sun 09/10/2022 15:42:50It looks like my "trophies" ("X worked on one or more games that won/were nominated for an AGS award") are not showing under my profile pic. Is there a setting I've missed somewhere that I need to enable in order to display them? Or are my itch/twitter icons overriding them?

Fixed!

Yeah, the new forums version doesn't seem to work properly with the MediaWiki integration anymore.  I'm working on it.

Turns it was just an admin setting to show or hide the post topic!  Reenabled now.

Quote from: Gilbert on Mon 03/10/2022 12:15:08I haven't checked extensively, but maybe there is an option to change it? (In that case I apologise for wasting this space here.)

I've noticed that in the new forums, the title of a thread only appears once on top of the page, which is a minor annoyance to me until... I have to update the Hall of Fame thread, in which it has become completely unreadable, as it relies on the different subject lines assigned to individual posts to distinguish between the different activities.

I don't know whether it's worth reverting this behaviour (some people may abuse the subject lines for whatever purposes?) but IMO sometimes individual posts have different subject lines for a reason. It is currently very confusing.

I'll look to readd this.  However, in the interim, you can just hover over the post datetime, and it'll give you the post topic.

Try again?  I've changed the default behaviour of the cookie div to be hidden, so if a user has the cookies or scripting disabled somehow it just won't show.

Quote from: js on Wed 28/09/2022 14:08:46As a Firefox user (v102, Linux) : I cannot close the banner for agreeing use of cookies.
(no × item to close it).

It is always here and doesn't disappear when i click on a subject or a sub-forum.

I've tested with Chromium and it's ok : i have the × mark to close the windows.

I have disabled uBlock and uMatrix extensions (thinking may the closing-cross was coming from the outer-banned-space), with no changes.

I worst case, a rule in uMatrix will hide the banner, but hey. May there are cleaner solutions.

Thank you.

It works fine in Firefox on various Windows and Mac versions.  No idea what the issue is on Linux, but unless you can give me an idea of the actual issue there isn't much I can do!  Do you see any errors in the developer console or networks tab?

I was quite obviously referring to the style of the character, which I'm not too fond of, not the person who is representing. I don't know why you have to chide me about the fact that he's Chris Jones, so far as putting "the guy" in quote-marks. If it's some sort of retort for me quoting your feeling uncomfortable, that was just to avoid adding a direct quote, Jesus...

The whole thing about people being more used to western media seems weird to me, as if a lot of western countries didn't air Japanese cartoons or sell manga for decades. There was even a thread about suggesting anime to watch on this very western-centric site, some time ago...

But, hey. You don't like Japanese-style characters? Fine, don't use the images. I'm sure someone else on the site will make something better for it.

I certainly won't waste more time pointlessly discussing these things.

Okay, I think there's been a misunderstanding here, and if so I apologise unreservedly.  It feels like I've managed to offend you personally, and that definitely wasn't my intention.

I honestly only put "that guy" in quotes because I was quoting what you said.  There was really no sarcasm intended.  Everything I said was intended as just an infomative aside, no hidden message intended!

The only point I'm trying to make is, as the administrator of this site, and someone who's been here almost 21 years now, I am trying to take our user base into account.  Nothing I've said is meant as a criticism of the art you actually drew, or of anime / manga in general.

EDIT: and I've just realised the character in the banner is actually Larry Vales anyway, so...  I think the CJ in the navbar on the home page confused my brain!

Also, I don't see what's so "uncomfortable" about anime, it seems a bit like an exaggeration to me, but whatever. Myself, for example, I never liked the guy who is at the centre of the current main page (and is the first thing newcomers see), but I would never say that it makes me feel uncomfortable despite not liking the style. What does, however, make me feel uncomfortable is the image of the editor on the left, which looks really fake :P

Just to clarify, it isn't the artwork, or anime, itself that makes me feel uncomfortable, it's having it front and centre on the AGS site.  The vast majority of our users are likely to be more used to western media, and will have to have found AGS when they were looking to either play or make games similar to those from the 'golden age' of Sierra, LucasArts, Revolution etc.  (For reference, not one of the top ten countries from which our site is accessed is in Asia).  We don't want to risk making AGS look even more niche than it already is, and to turn off (or at least avoid attracting) new users.

And for info, "the guy" in the logo is Chris Jones, the creator of AGS.  That's just a little nod to the community though, by no means something we'd necessarily need in the new design!

Of course, she would also look great in a less anime and more European comic style (like Clotilde) - would this make you feel less uncomfortable, AGA?

In theory, sure!

I do like the blue cup hair idea though, it's a nice touch!

While I appreciate the artistry that's gone into it, the anime styling of these makes me feel a bit uncomfortable...  Anime isn't to everyone's tastes, so it feels like it could be a bit divisive to have it so visible on the site.  Something more mainstream might be better?

Zoom is fixed in the next version of the forums, which should hopefully be done quite soon.  Not worth trying to fix it in this deprecated version!

Posts from the recycle bin aren't listed.  I'm guessing heltenjon managed to load the page while the posts were still in a public place, but by the time he clicked the links they'd been moved to a private location.  Not really a use case I can account for programmatically!

I can't find any history of a user named Jacob McGriff, or that game, so all we can really do is disable the game and let it rest.
