I think the world of this game is incredible, even by the standards of ben's games.

Looked at as a kind of puzzle poem, I think it's very successful. I liked the story and the writing, though felt that the ratio of text to gameplay was slightly skewed. Perhaps I was a little disappointed that the puzzles were mainly straightforward object collection. It would have been great to solve something more rich, more to do with fragments of history or the strange ecosystem of the fragments.

My main reason for commenting is - Please make falling skyward game in 3D. Pleeease! I don't care if it's heresy.

The atmosphere of lost places reminded me so much of the MYST series, and an URU-like version of falling skywards would be amazing. I want to jump between floating islands in 3D!

I thought it would be obvious!

I have missed out the ones which I assume are part of international English:

Spoiler
bollocks = testicles (used like Bullshit)
bloody hell = a mild exclamation
arse...hole = ass... hole.
bugger = another mild exclamation, or term of jocular endearment (which is weird because it actually means sodomise...)
piss = urine
wanker = masturbator
shite = poo
slag = promiscuous or scruffy woman
tart = see slag
bint = see tart/slag (notably used in Monty Python & The Holy Grail when the lady of the lake is described as a 'moistened bint')
tosser = a milder version of wanker
tit = a woman's breast
git = a curmudgeonly man
[close]

*dusts hands*

Well that was time well spent...

My friend singing a song she wrote called British Swear Words Song:

It is educational, as well as being quite rude.

Yes, Stupot has hit the horribly animated nail on it's horribly animated head!

I hadn't seen the ThatGuyWithTheGlasses review. If anything he plays down how bad it is.

Also, I swear the version on youtube is different to the version I watched as a student. There's a monster who chases them in a swamp, and in the version I remember the monster kept quoting Marlon Brando lines (with no lip-sync) throughout the scene: "I coulda been a contender," "Stellaaa," etc.

But on youtube, the dreamlike madness is gone, and the monster just makes monster noises...

Anian, you are wise to have blanked this film from your memory. Here's an equally awful but more clue-ful frame:

Here's Nelly's suggestion, from the worst animated film we've ever watched:

This may be cheating, but Nelly thinks it's The Virgin Suicides.

I'm pretty confident it's not 12 Monkeys, but the doctor does look a bit like Simon Jones who is one of the scientists in 12 Monkeys and is also the original Arthur Dent and I am a cool guy for pointing that out!

I was going to say monkeybone, based on the same premise.

If this game were a democracy, Eggie's guess would have my vote.

I'd never heard of Jack Black, Gulliver's Travels, or 2010 and I intend never to watch.

It looks a bit like Zodiac, in terms of production design.

It's also significantly better than Graham Chapman's Yellowbeard. If you only watch one beard-colour-titled film this year, make it Red Beard.

How does it fare against Blackbeard and Gingerbeard Man then?

An there was some Italian pirate film called Barbarossa (Red Beard) as well.

I haven't seen those films, but I imagine BETTER.

Red beard it is! The first screenshot is women screaming down a well to recover the soul of someone who is dying. It's an unforgettable scene, though admittedly incomprehensible if you haven't watched the film.

Red Beard is long but it's worth it. An incredibly powerful film, and a great performance by Toshira "I'm totally sick of Kurosawa" Mifune.

I must say, I'm delighted to have broken the game!

I really didn't think this was an obscure one. That's one of the most memorable shots/moments from the film, for me at least.

[clues] It's a film by one of the world's great directors, and the end of a long standing collaboration with a well-known actor of the era. [/clues]

Here's what I hope is a much easier frame:

Not nearly obscure enough, but at least it's not the Nightmare Before Christmas:
