Wow!  That was FAST!

Okay, here's one that may take more time:

You remove and throw away the outside and cook the inside.  Then you eat the outside and throw away the inside.

What is it?

Spoiler

Corn on the cob? You throw away the leaves and cook the rest - then you eat the corn and throw away the core...

Oh, hehe, I totally forgot about this.
Apparently my riddle sucked since nobody solved it. But yeah, it's a bit silly, really.
Spoiler

The riddle is based on a double entendre - when I say "serves three", I don't mean it serves three people, but it literally serves the number three (as in serving the ball in a sport). So, what begins with 3, goes on forever and is also a dish?

Ok I thought of a more conventional riddle:
"What dish serves three and doesn't ever end?"

Ok, I'm realizing that a puzzle like this, isolated and brought out of context, will appear a bit trivial and straightforward, while in-game just understanding when and how to apply the answers may be hard to understand.
Actually, only #4 requires any real thought - the rest are pretty basic. I should probably improve them.
But yeah, Snarky got them all.

Spoiler

I don't know why I wrote "...to now" in there, as it's just confusing the message. No wonder of the world was built recently, anyway.
Four, as in The four horsemen, is correct.
12 hours from dusk till dawn. This isn't a very good riddle, since as you point out, only around equinox is this correct. At first I thought I should include something about the middle of a march (march being walking-themed and the month of an equinox) but it got long and wordy.
Eight full notes from C to C, well done. Thirteen could be an answer here, but the numbers available are from 5 to 12.

I should probably give a few of these riddles some more thought. If you have any good ideas, feel free to contribute. There should be a tangible walking theme (to make the player connect the poem with the walking cane), plenty of alliteration and preferably a rhyme somewhere.

Alright, I'm gonna spoil my game a bit, but I'm wondering if a puzzle I made is too hard, or doable.

Spoiler

The player has been given a walking cane. The cane should be used as a sort of lever to activate some numbers (I won't explain the exact procedure, but the numbers are the important part). The player has access to this "poem":
First I wandered from wonder to wonder, from years of yore to now.
Thereafter, I roamed with the riders of the revelation.
Then I drifted from dusk till dawn.
Lastly I strolled from sea to sea, missing no note, losing no key.

The walking theme should connect the cane with the numbers. So, which numbers would you activate? I suspect the three first ones are a bit too easy, and the fourth much too hard. Any thoughts or suggestions?

The head? Was that the solution to a riddle, or a new riddle, disguised as a solution?

Lincoln with a penny, declaring that he's "in-a-cent"

Good one, Snarky!
However, looking at this situation from a non-riddle perspective, wasn't that a strange moment to suddenly produce a coin and brag that it's got your face on it? Did he plead insanity?
"Mr Lincoln, you're accused of this heinous crime, and..."
"LOOK AT THIS COIN! THAT'S MY FACE!"
"I accept your plea."

Alan:
QuoteThe president is a dead man, dunno who, and he's giving the coin, an obol, to Kharon, the judge, so he can sail across the Styx ?
Obviously that sounds too easy, so I'm probably wrong.

I really like this solution, although it ignores some of the premises; Kharon isn't a judge (merely a ferryman), and the whole scenario can't be described as a trial, really.

There's this myth - I believe it's a myth anyways - about how the name for some exotic animal, I think it was Kangaroo, was actually the natives way of saying "I don't understand you". So when the settlers/explorers pointed at the animal in question, the aborgines or whatever just said they couldn't understand.

Lead?

Woah, I'm super-impressed that Cleanic solved it! You're gonna love my GiP, Cleanic, ha ha, *pitch*

I still don't quite agree with the second-layer description of the riddle, but it was ok.

Yeah, the F's are pretty obvious (F being a fail grade), especially since you confirmed my being on the right track with letters building a word.

Although two letters that have to do with admiration? I'm lost there.
Edit: Unless it's simply two A's.
FAFA? Nope, still lost.

Spoiler

I get that it's probably about letters being added to form a word, and then there's something about the ending of the word, etc etc... am I on the right track?

Guys, there are limits as to how pointless threads we can tolerate here.

Maxine is cool enough to bump it up again  (laugh)

Note to everyone: The only reason Tabata hasn't been banned for this cheekiness already is that this thread was moved into the newly opened "Rumpus Room" board, where pointless bumping is allowed  ;)

This board is for threads that are a tad too silly, pointless or irrelevant for the general discussion board.

As of April 2012, there will not be a place only for popular threads, like the previous "popular threads" forum; instead it's all about the content.

This forum will this thus be largely unmoderated. You're still expected to use your common sense, and abide by a few recommendations;
* Don't break any laws. No links to illegal sharing, no libel, no personal threats etc.
* Don't flood the forum. Nonsense is best served in small portions.

Thank you and happy silly posting.

I'd ALSO say that BASS must be one of the FIRST using that kind of GUI, if not the VERY first.

Your point is quite valid, but let's take into account a couple of facts:
1. Virtually all colours can be found in portraits by famous artists, if you look hard enough. A painting which seems to depict a perfectly natural skin colour can turn out all blue when compared to another portrait, painted in a different light. Finding the right colour is seldom about identifying a native pigment - it's always a combination of light reflections and refractions.
2. However, saying "why can't I have green in my portrait when Cezanne can (or whoever)?" is a bit like saying "why can't I paint a perfectly square face when Picasso can?" Because you don't have a valid reason to do so, you just claim it's your right to, and expect that it will somehow magically be appealing.
3. This particular piece looked better without the green. Why? Because the green parts weren't applied in a way that made sense. They didn't improve the face. They didn't accentuate anything.
4. Does this mean it's always wrong to add green in your portraits? Hell no. Look at any recent pixelated portrait by Helm - like this one:

Lots of green. But there is a method to it. It's not like he just threw green pixels at the canvas and hoped for the best. This scene called for the green. It made sense here.
Or why not this one:

Lots of weirds shapes and colours, but Helm had a reason to make it that way, an agenda. It doesn't mean anyone can add lots of purple triangles to their portrait and hope for success.
Why not?
For the same reason you shouldn't begin practising writing by mimicing Finnegan's Wake. It's just no use. Start simple. When you know the basics, start pushing the boundaries. When you can control basic perspective, move on to have a go at DOTT graphics. Etc, etc.
