I found it with a search for"amstrad game london underground" - it's Werewolves Of London!

Don't know much about it, just saw the cinema poster and groaned at the idea of it!

That looks like Keith Allen and the mum from This Is England. IMDB tells me they were both in:

Indeed! The link was that Duel and Fanny And Alexander were both shot as tv movies then re-edited for theatrical release.

Well, I had to go through the list of winners and image seacrh the films of directors I knew, but I got it:

Ingmar Bergman's Fanny And Alexander.

Assuming I'm correct, here's mine. Two things:

It's pretty hard to get a shot of this film that doesn't immediately give it away!
This film has something in common with Fanny And Alexander, production-wise.

He also said in On Writing that he got the idea from wandering around the back of a service station in the middle of nowhere and almost slipping into a stream. It occurred to him that he would have got carried away and no one would have looked for him for a fair while, his car sitting there unattended. And this led to From A Buick 8, apparently. But yeah, I bet Repo Man filtered in too, especially as King had already directed Emilio Estevez in another vehicle-related movie!
