AGS Games in Production / Re: The Witch House

Lovecraft inspires so many adventure games!

I dig your style. The animations look neat too.

Thanks for clarifying.

Quote from: KumpelI would like to vote for Loslems "The House without Windows". It's not perfect but extremely ambitious and the selfmade creepy soundtrack is superb.
The game has a page now.

Since nobody wrote, I propose On Leaving The Building :

Have you ever wondered what the King was up to in his final years? Probably not since we'd rather remember him as the legendary crooner he once was. In stark contrast, BRANE gives us control of an overweight drug-addicted Elvis about to... about to what exactly?

I can write a blurb if necessary but I was waiting for opinions since it's supposed to be a community pick.

"10 Ways From Sunday" added to my list.

QuoteUse 7zip. It's great!â,,¢
Got it working, thanks.
I'm probably not the only one using WinRAR for .rar files though :P

QuoteI can only set games as PotM that have a game DB entry.

Since it's already late in October, maybe we can choose another pick in the meantime.

Some good games that I've played recently :
- Fun, Sun and Mishaps.
- Don't worry, I'll bring the beer.
- On leaving the building.
- The Elevator.
- The Execution of Anne Boleyn .
- 10 Ways from Sunday.

WinRAR. I've tried several times with both versions (german / english). No way to unzip the 28.7 Mo file

Not that I contest your idea Kumpel, but I get an error when I try to unzip the file linked in the thread of the game. "Archive is either in unknown format or damaged". There's no AGS page either.

QuoteI wanted to pick "Hang on" from last MAGS
Good idea. I have a proposition for a description:

When a game called "hang on" features a lonely mountain cabin on its title screen, you know that it won't talk about telephone queues.
Don't worry though, this lighthearted adventure won't involve any woman falling to her death because of a defective harness.

July has been rich in good games. For August pick, I suggest Terror of the Vampire!

Embark alongside Dr Ego Goodmind on his journey through vaguely Eastern Europe to teach superstitious locals the benefits of modern psychiatry.
With art worthy of the Great Mouse Detective and a story Gelliant Gutfright would bite for, this game is the perfect remedy to your pathological need for proactive inactivity.

Bravo Silverspook! Next game on my toplay list  ;)

The AGS awards gave me the opportunity to play games I missed. I'd like to submit Waiting for the loop for the next pick :

Presented in a "choose your own adventure" style, Waiting for the loop features diffrerent outcomes that encourage replayability.
Well-written dialogs supported by spot-on dubbing emphasize the importance of your choices in this striking tale about AI.

Well done Riaise!

QuoteIt took a while for me to get my head around the wording
Yeah, that's what makes it difficult :-D

You made me realize there was a mistake in the problem statement. Sorry about that :-[
Your reasoning is good nonetheless. It should have read :
The prince is three times as old as the princess was when the prince was half as old as the princess is. How old are they?

Here's a math way to solve it :
Spoiler
We have 4 unknowns :

princessprince
old ageXaYa
current ageXbYb

We can make 3 statements :
(1) Yb = 3Xa (The prince is three times as old as the princess was...)
(2) Ya = Xb/2 (...when the prince was half as old as the princess is)
(3) Yb - Ya = Xb - Xa (the difference between current/old age is the same for both of them)

We're looking for Xb and Yb.
If you replace Ya and Xa in (3), you get :
Yb - Xb/2 = Xb - Yb/3
From there :
4/3 Yb = 3/2 Xb
Yb = 9/8 Xb

That's it : when the prince is 9, the princess is 8. It works with any multiple of these ages too :

princessprince
old age68
current age1618

princessprince
old age912
current age2427

No, you didn't get the question right. Let's take your hypothesis of the prince being 6 and the princess being 4 :

princeprincess
old age42
current age64
"Old age" depicts the moment when the princess was a third of the prince's current age (The prince is three times as old as the princess was...")
When she was 2, he was 4. Therefore he wasn't half of her current age (which is also 4).

#256
What about a little math problem?

EDIT :
The prince is three times as old as the princess was when the prince was twice as old as the princess is. How old are they?

The prince is three times as old as the princess was when the prince was half as old as the princess is. How old are they?

There are several good answers.
