The way I remembered this was that I recalled there was a movie where a shy girl character has put lots of cosmetics on but looked really bad with it .

Just in case I repeat this again: what you see on the screenshot is not some generic "darkness" but actual part of the surroundings you can see in game .
Also I recommend try adjusting your gamma/contrast, because color hue may matter.

Why, that is "The Prophecy".

A pretty silly story in my opinion, but had a great atmosphere and sense of rythm! The sequence of this guy in black glasses arriving is one of my favourite. Also Viggo Mortensen eating a flower .

Please tell us what hint you meant in the last picture. I can't see anything but feet, the carpet and a cupboard... or is it the nightgown???

Argh, the trails of cupboard being moved. Maybe they are not as noticeable as I hoped them to be.
