I saw the movie (100 years ago) and I recognized your first screenshot but just couldn't place it... took me awhile but my memory banks accessed it eventually.

I actually didn't recognize the second shot at all! I got it from the first one.

Related in that it's directed by Joe Dante (who also directed Gremlins) and timely in that it has Carrie Fisher (may the force be ever with her) in it.

I really miss the days of matte painted backgrounds like that. I mean I love CG (and realism) but there was just something... magical... about those hand-painted scenes like that.

That movie was great. Disturbing, but great. I felt uncomfortable for a week after watching it.
