Of course that is 8 1/2. I will turn in my film fan badge in shame at the first available opportunity.

That's Randolph Scott, so...Comanche Station?

Ugh...no! Dammit. That's Randolph Scott AND Joel McCrea. I know what movie this is, and it's not Comanche Station.

Why does emboss filter exist in graphics software?

Instead of using it on images, use it on text. Some neat effects to be gained.

I also used it to create a stamped-foil look on this cover mockup:

Ponch nailed it. That's a young Lucille Ball...

Indeed a film noir! A pretty good one too!

Well, just so I'm not totally being an Eric, that's good ol' Rita Hayworth as Gilda.

Well, it's definitely either got choreography by, or influenced by Busby Berkeley.

Plus, it's a movie based on a book by a semiotician. How often does that happen? Saussure and Barthes certainly didn't have Hollywood success.

Hudsucker Proxy!

Aw man! I don't know why I wrote Barton Fink. I totally meant Hudsucker Proxy. The Coen Bros. would be ashamed of me.

Always take it as teeing up. I always feel guilty answering quickly after taking a turn. But I'm tempted when it's a movie that I love the hell out of, like this one. Or Terror in a Texas Town.

Selmiak -- I just got lucky! My film appreciation students are watching neo-noir films this week, and I just screened Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction to see which I preferred to offer on their list of film choices. I went with Reservoir Dogs (and a bunch more, including, yes, Blade Runner!).

Maybe you'll be better at curtain spotting if there are pretty ladies in front of them?

I did indeed recognize this door and curtain from PULP FICTION!

Here's a new one for you:
