Critics' Lounge / Suggest changes :)

It's a building model I created with Blender (supposed to be the fortified inn from WH fantasy).
I am mostly annoyed with the lack of specific style, due to the colors and shading- but maybe it is just overall 'realism'.
I'd like it to look more suggestive. How would you go about achieving such an effect?

Apart from the gfx (and some animation), the plot also was pleasant. Humorous, despite the murder and political intrigue. The aesthetic, however, imo is what makes the game memorable and I hope to see more in the future  (nod)

Hm, is there any story (preferably short, not a novel) that can be reasonably presented as the one with the best use of a locked room plot?
It's a bonus if the author has literary value (eg Chesterton), but even just the plot will be enough for me to look into it :)

From interviews, Musk himself says he has let go of around 80% of Twitter's employees.
How the thing is even still running, is impressive. But I doubt it will be around for long.
Should be the first time a massive social network dies not due to competition, but its owner's streak of cretinous decisions.

It's amazing, really, that Musk prior to being duped into buying Twitter, managed to have most media hail him as a very intelligent person, and poignantly one with science/math knowledge. I - and I wouldn't be alone in that - never had reason to look into his education, prior to the Twitter early fiascos, and was surprised to learn he has no actual science/math degree. He is a hack and never even uttered a single phrase in all interviews I've watched which would allow you to form any sense his intelligence is above average. Quite the opposite, really, even an average intelligence would allow him to occasionally say something insightful in a field he was involved in.

I wonder, if you are in so precarious a position (where you do need to maintain a myth about your mental worth), how can you be so reckless as to throw the spotlight on your decision-making at so central a stage? Maybe he simply is dumb enough to be unable to realize he is dumb.

There was at least one car which carried a green (plant-like) chain mace  := I thought you meant that as a "mutant plant car".
Not easy to find an image, though. It's barely visible in the intro (but not really, since the car's top part where the mace is, remains off screen).

The Spiral Zone? (another great show, btw)

Hey, good luck with the game!
But I couldn't resist: how could you have a PC version if the game still is titled Fatman?  :=  :=  :=

Read The Arrow of Heaven, by Chesterton.
It has the typically pleasant style of the Father Brown stories. And a locked room. But the guilty party was pretty easy to guess, from the first part of the short story. The ruse was a bit artificial/flamboyant.

Well, I'd certainly advise against paying 100 dollars for this. Or even 1 dollar, for that matter.
Read it all now, btw. The ending somehow managed to be the worst part of this silly book. Laughable farce doesn't begin to describe it.

Amazon certainly has copies: https://www.amazon.com/Burning-Court-John-Dickson-Carr/dp/1780020031
There are also library-styled sites, where you can read for a fee, eg: https://archive.org/details/burningcourt00john/page/n9/mode/2up

Hm, I am a little over 9/10 of the Burning Court. Unhappy to say that it will take nothing short of a miracle for this book ending up as anything other than garbage.
The issue isn't the utter lack of any literary worth (that became known from the first few pages). It's the plot itself. But I shall wait till the end.

Quote from: LimpingFish on Tue 25/07/2023 19:50:09Unfortunately, it's only called "X.COM" because Musk, like the man-baby he is, thinks it sounds cool. He's owned that domain for a long time, and I believe he tried to have Paypal originally called "X" (or maybe it was one of the other ventures he bought his way into).

According to sources (¬¬), Twitter is now "X", pronounced "ex", (as in extreeememememe!!1) and a tweets will now be known as "X's", pronounced "exes"...as in "I've been married a few times, but all my exes hate me..."

Afaik, "xeet" is used officially in Tweeter. For example here is a still I got from there:

And while "ex-eet" sounds a bit better than "xeet", it is already a meaningful term (exit) so I really doubt it can be sustainable. "Tweet"/"retweet", on the other hand, were unique and had become part of the web language, while not meaning anything else.

Nice consistency, btw: "how to xeet", with the "tweet" button still there.

It's easier to have memorable monsters in animated shows.
Gargoyle imo was one of the best:

Then again, Inhumanoids was an awesome show.

And another genius plan of his is for paid xeet-posters, who will receive money only from views by other people with paid xeeter accounts.
He is proposing a pyramid scheme and is proud of the idea.

CGI monsters tend to suck.

Remember that this guy was once presented as a genius, when in reality he may well have considerably below average intelligence.

Mmmmh, personally I never saw the allure in Godzilla  :=
Kothoga is supposed to be a beetle-lizard-human chimera.

Twitter is now Xitter, by the way.

Unless this idiot is forced to change it back, it may well be the end of the platform.

I'd nominate the Kothoga, from The Relic.
The movie is pretty decent, and it owes that mostly to the monster - though 80s-90s Penelope Ann Miller is always good to see  :)
