Well, I'll take the "2 on 3" for good of Notarobotyet this time, at least in the googling he discovered this cool movie!
So now it's your turn, mister Notarobotyet!

"mister"? "He"? ...Excuse me? If if you seriously think my avatar looks like a "he", then my pixel art skills are even worse than I had imagined :P

Anyway, there's mine. Sweet dreams:

What's really confusing me is that this actor reminds me SO much of Bruno Ganz for some reason... But I guess it can't be the case if the film is Italian, so I'm totally stuck.

8-0 What the...?!?

So when you see Javier Bardem in No country for old men you think the movie is spanish?  (laugh)

Hahaha fair enough!

Is really the beloved Bruno Ganz in a italian movie! Now you're near!

Well, then google says it's "Bread and Tulips"  :-D You can disqualify me for googling or award me the victory for at least having figured out the city and the main actor!  :P

Amélie is French, not Italian.
Sorry but that's fake news, notarobotyet. Look she's even doing the hand thing!

Uh, nothing moves here?

So i step in!  (laugh)

This time is an italian movie! Not a blockbuster but it gained enough success in many foreign countries!_

I have no idea what the movie is, but I'm 99.9999% sure that the screenshot is set in Venice  ;-D

Sounds like you know how to keep things small. A very useful skill indeed. Most people get overambitious on their first project, and try to make something that would take years for an expert to make. Starting small, is always the best way to go. So great job there, I look forward to seeing your game.

Thank you! I guess it also comes from the wish to see something finished, even if it's short and simple. It feels really satisfactory to say "hey, I actually finished this and it's playable!", and that in turn is a huge morale boost for whatever project you get into after that.

As someone who couldn't draw to save their life as well, up until a few years ago. Here's some friendly advice, traditional drawing skills translate into pixel art skills. I don't know how, but when I started practicing with a pencil, I suddenly found myself able to make decent pixel art.
So draw everyday. Get a pad (something cheap will do), find a comic you like the artstyle in, and everyday draw a panel from that comic. Don't trace, use it as a reference. Try to enlarge the panel to cover the entire page. After you've filled in the entire pad, you'll be able to draw. Not very well, but you'll definitely have the basics. And unfortunately there's no other way to learn those basics. It's like riding a bicycle, you've got to do it to learn it.

Good luck!  :-D

That sounds like really solid advice! Drawing has always been one of THOSE things that I could never get even _remotely_ good at, but now that I have a real motivation to get better, things might pan out differently ;-D Thanks for the welcome and the tips!

A bit late to introduce myself, I guess, since I've already posted a few questions in the beginners' forum and I've interacted with some people here, but... why not!

So yeah, hi! I'm Laura and I'm a total newbie to AGS, having picked it up for the first time sometime around... Jan/Feb this year? I haven't made a single game since I decided to learn BASIC in order to make my own games on my ZX-Spectrum 48k way WAY back in the day, so I don't think that "I'm a bit rusty when it comes to these game-making shenanigans" even begins to describe it :-D

Against all odds, though, I'm about to finish my first demo/game/experiment, which I will most certainly post here very soon, I'm thinking probably a week from now (nod). I chose to start with a first-person point-and-click adventure with photographic backgrounds because I can't draw or design to save my life, but I'm really invested in the idea of learning how to do pixel art, so my next games might even include a playable character?! Ambitious, I know, I know.

And just to add a bit more personal info, I was born and raised in Spain, but I'm currently living in Germany and working for a US company. I like weird music in general (dissonant French black metal? Sure! Industrial ambient? Please. Twinpeaksy-like dream-jazz? Oh baby you know what I like), my favourite food is literally anything you can stuff inside a baguette.

Glad to meet you all!
