Yeah. The grammatically correct way to say would be "He was a fish, wasn't he?"

As far as I know, singular has to be used because the first word (i.e. item/object) is a convert from a noun to an adjective and thus has to be singular.

Yeah, I read now that there are US and EU versions. The US indeed cannot function in our gsm environment.

So the only thing left to do is to sell it. :/ Anybody interested?

Hi!

My friend found a phone last week and gave it to me today, because he couldn't get it to work. He had already reverted to factory settings. Apparently it's a HTC EVO 3D. And I can see how he couldn't get it to work. There is no slot for a SIM card, and I gather that that's typical for the US version. I live in Slovakia, so this is pretty new to me.

Is there any way to get this kind of thing to work in Europe?

Nah, I would have to change my daily fact to something like "Boobs without freckles are like.." gosh, that sounds weird :D

Daily fact:

A face without freckles is like a night sky without stars.

Thanks Ali! I actually tried that before, but on black the text was kind of dark red. The reason was that it wasn't 100% black. It only works with 100% black. When you have like 28 of R, G and B; it behave differently...

How do you do the contrasting text effect in photoshop? I have two-colored background - cyan and black. I want the text cyan on the black parts and black on cyan parts.

Now I know how to do this manually (i.e. rasterizing the text, selection based on background, fill with the other color). But is there a proper function for it so that when I move the text around the image it keeps adjusting itself to the underlying color?

I've seen some websites done on http://www.webnode.com. It's possible to use the system on your own domain too. I don't really have any experience with it, I've just seen that it's kind of drag-and-drop thing. I think it's worth trying out.

Okay, here we go with another "guess the song" request.

The night before last, approx. 3 am some nutshell around the block kept playing this song over and over again loud as hell in their car (probably). It was a slow ballad sung by a female vocalist. It stuck in my mind after hearing it like 20 times (before the police shut them down), but I couldn't make out the words.

What I know is that the most recurrent word was "you". Nothing surprising in love ballads, I know. I remember that there was a phrase "about youuuu" with a falling pitch in the chorus (I'm talking only about the chorus here, the rest was too far away to hear), and then something like "I remember (to saayy)" - the part in the brackets may be completely off, it's just there for the rhythm's sake, it was simply two syllablles sang over 4 falling notes.

Now I guess this is too little to identify, but maybe I'll be lucky. Anyone?

Okay, I've got a song I can identify, but can't find a studio recording of it anywhere to buy or anything.

It comes from the movie Little Vera and plays during the disco fight scene (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PLaNyaUiQs&feature=related).

There's one version all over the internet which is sadly only a cut from the movie.

Now the actual artist is Галина Шевелева (Galina Sheveleva) and its name is "How Well" ("Как Хорошо"). The lyrics are apparently written by V. Matetskiy.

If there is any source from which one could get to the actual studio recording and not just a cut from the movie, I would be EXTREMELY happy.
Please, make me happy  :P

Thanks for any effort!

Thanks for helping out, I'll look into it. The most important thing to know is that it's really a harmonica.  :)
#13
Harmonica was my first guess too, that would have to be a larger one I guess...? A small blowing harmonica has is a bit higher, isn't it?
#14
Okay, here's a question.

What's the musical instrument playing the solo at 1:06 in The Renegade Theme?

I think it may be some kind of woodwind or such, but am clueless about the precise specification.
Anyone?

I would look up your laptop model on the manufacturer's site, BIOS updates will hopefully be where other drivers are. At least with my DELL it was like this. Opening the thing up probably wouldn't help.
#16
First you have to know exactly what motherboard does your laptop have. Then go to the manufacturer's website and instructions should be there. (in a case of a laptop the laptop's manufacturer's site should have the BIOS I guess)

For example, I have an Intel DP35DP, so I went onto Intel site and downloaded an .exe which conveniently updated my bios on its own. Another procedures include flash disks or burning it onto CDs and such.

Anyway, if I recall correctly the rule of thumb is not to update bios if you don't need to.

YAY!  :D

Thanks an awful lot, I've been looking for it for years.

Speaking of games, I have this unsolved thing:

I remember a game I played most probably on SNES emulator waaay back. I am almost sure it was called "Sink or swim" (but I may as well be totally wrong here). But not that cartoony sink or swim! (http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/638/Sink+or+Swim.html)

This one was about you getting out of a sinking ship, you were a waiter or something (?) and it wasn't at all meant to be cartoony or funny. There were fires, the ship was turning and sinking and you had to make your way out.

I believe I don't remember anything else. It's been years I've been looking for this game with no success.
Perhaps some of you did encounter it?
#19
I knew someone would mention it  ;D

Yeah, I know of that, that's particulary interesting providing it's a pedal synthesizer. That piece of info was quite easy to find, now only the keyboard sound in the beginning is missing.

Could anyone possibly tell me what keyboard synth is played in Phil Collins's "I don't care anymore" ?
