Me trying out my favourite tram:

Heh, I was 17 as well when I was introduced to AGS by Yahtzee's games as well. Just say it was through Abandonia  ;D

Anyway, warm welcome to all of you, enjoy your stay  :)

Worked for me so far.

I usually draw a black rectangle representing the character's maximum dimensions in a separate layer and keep moving it around to check what needs re-scaling. (That of course doesn't mean I often end up with totally wrong scaling of the rooms, it takes practice).

Also, know what the dimensions are. For 320*240, the characters are usually around 20*60 or 30*70. Stick to the character dimension when drawing doors, and they can help you with the rest of the room.

Still, it takes practice as I said, mistakes will occur.

Does anyone have any experience with this "touch scroll" thing Genius mice came up with? My Logitech middle wheel is dying and from what I see, Logitech mice are either expensive or have shitty wheels.

The touch scroll thing looks interesting, but having no chance to try it, did anyone do so here?
I use the wheel/I press the wheel a lot, so it looks like a nice change.

Anyone?

That chevy totally rocks Babs, especially the silver hood-thing.
It looks like it's in a pretty good condition!

notice how he looks much happier with short hair.

I'm starting to believe that necro-evil look in the eyes goes along with long hair (only men, I mean)  ;D

What's more fun than Australian border patrol hats with sunglasses?

Or switch to Opera.

I want to ask if possesion or usage of surveillance equipment like wireless microphones, phone bugs or even abusive devices like nausea-causing transmitters is illegal. Or does it vary from country to country? I was always fascinated with eavesdropping and today I ask myself, if it's illegal to posess such equipment...

Thanks for pointers, law-guys !  ;)

Stu - from my experience, I was sometimes really, I mean REALLY surprised, what my old 1Ghz Athlon, GeForce2 MX400 and 256MB of ram could handle. And, the other way around, it couldn't run some games I was convinced it should. Anyway, the minimum reqs that are shown are usually over-estimated a bit. But sometimes also underestimated.

My advice - always try a demo. After a few experiences and surprises, I don't believe the reqs anymore.

A toy horse, I guess?
I have definitely seen an original photo, this is just a pixel interpretation of it.

Bad drivers usually give you only weird graphic artifacts in games. I would say this is not a driver problem and I would bet that the monitor's faulty. But to be certain, I would borrow a monitor if possible, to try out if the problem persists.

A-ha. So in the evening the ground transfers its heat to the air and thus cools first while in the morning it heats up first and then transfers the heat to the colder air. That makes sense.

So the whole thing can be about the fact that ground is giving away/absorbing heat much more rapidly than air?
#35
That would be possible, but in reverse? It works in both ways, so air should be then capable of transferring the heat to the ground, which is practically the opposite (?) I don't know.
#36
Oh, shame on me, shame on me, how dumb I am!  :-[

....but really why?
#37
Ok, I would like to know why does the ground cool first in the evening before the air does and respectively, why does the ground warm first in the morning, then the air.

Hey there, it's ok to post here anytime.

I guess there are no tutorials that go "step-by-step", 'cause it's always based on your own skill and patience. There will be always these steps you can't understand. Everyone knows that the only "true" way to improve is to accept the boring hours of unsuccessfull practicing and hordes of scraped attempts, but try to avoid that by any means, everyone does that.

I've already explained my approach: choose a program (go for something free in your case, it does not have to be as comlicated as PS or such. Go for GraphicsGale or ArtGem, they are simple yet powerful.) and get a hang of it. There isn't much to explain on the program tools.

At least for me, the only way to practice and improve after having selected a proper program was practice. Practice, practice, practice. Do you know any "step-by-step" guides to basketball? I do not. You just have to try and practice, and you will improve. Things are not B/W though. There are tons of tuts that can help you, but only to some extent. It always comes to the practice part, which is difficult in the beginning, but will eventually become entertaining.

Read a bit, the tutorials that are here in Critics Lounge.
I have learned a lot on Eric's (MrColossal) tutorials. They are the most step-by-step I could imagine. Totally recommended. Take a look on the others as well.
When you've read enough, just put your favourite CD in your player, fire up your favourite graphics program and start practicing. There's no way around.

If there is, let me know.  ;)

All of the best luck to you.

I haven't posted any of my last year's photos so I feel obliged to do it now.
Here we go:

Hugging one of my favourite trams:

Obligatory gangster-photo:

Meeeeaaatcleeeaaaveer!

...turned against its owner!

Reeeeloading!

And the most insane one comes last!

PS: Yes, I like wearing shirts, but believe me, I have another shirts on different photos, this is pure coincidence!
