I've tried changing the game page on my laptop, which also runs Chrome, and this works fine. Also, I'm pretty sure I haven't done an update of Chrome (on my desktop) since the last time it worked. So I doubt it's actually the browser causing this, although I'm not sure what else it would be.

It worked fine a couple of weeks ago, though. Something must have changed since then.

But I don't think it's a good idea to advice Chrome users to "just use another browser" for this site, because of its huge market share. Every other forum I frequent works fine in Chrome.

For some reason I cannot edit the games page any more; I get a 403 error that "You do not have permission to access this server. Your technical support key is: 57d2-ef78-b40c-8ddc"

Please send me a copy and I'll check :)

I wonder if anyone still has the first build of META? It's dated December 2005, whereas the current one (which I do have) is dated August 2006. Out of academic curiosity I would like to have the first release if possible.

That's a good point. I agree that something like beta testing shouldn't get you a forum badge, but what about something like doing all the graphics or all the music for a game? Maybe we should have a function to allow the main game creator to set this in the game's profile?

Could you check something please? I just noticed that the profiles for Corby, Dirt McStain, and Fizzii don't get the sparkly icon for "worked on a game that won an AGS award", e.g. in this thread.

I'm looking for a non-adventure game (sorry). It was a 2d, DOS game. You were in a stationary bunker or something in WW2 and planes came in (these were probably very simple 3d). You had to shoot them down. It was kinda first person. You could turn the gun 360 degrees I believe. Any ideas any one? I specifically remember the planes made a nice 'pop' effect when you got them, almost like balloons. And they would break into a bunch of little pieces.
Paratrooper.

But yet, I look for another. This one is based in space. It is in first person view. The player starts in a ship, and has to escape from it. There's noone on board. When the player get out, the ship is landed on a planet (before one can get out, theres a space suit that has to be worn). The player then goes to an alien building (I suspect its a bar). Later, one has to escape from the aliens. One has the abiity to see from top, on a schematichs kinda view; sometimes the aliens catch you and shot you.
That sounds like Space Quest I, really :)

Well, fellow adventure gamers, let me tell you a little story. Years ago, when I was new to AGS and all I had written so far were some action/puzzle games, I first came across this site and thought it was awesome (and by the way, I still think it is awesome, and more so every year). That's basically because I grew up with adventure games, and I learned English by playing King's Quest and Space Quest and figuring out what commands to type. So obviously I made plans to write a game in AGS, but since I was doing puzzle games I was also looking into other genres than just adventures. And then I noticed this thread or its predecessor: is it possible to design an RPG in AGS? I thought about it for a while and concluded yeah, sure. As far as I know, back then nobody had actually done any RPGs yet, so I decided I would go and write an RPG, and then make a post in this thread here containing just the word "yes" and a link to my game. Well, it took awhile; game design takes up quite a bit of time and real life has a tendency to interject itself every now and then, so it's now almost ten years after I first registered for bigbluecup. That means that there have been several RPGs made before, and nobody has to prove any more that something is possible in AGS because we've all seen how versatile the engine actually is. That said, RPGs are still great and so are AGS games, so there's always room for another AGSRPG; it was fun to write one and I hope other people remain inspired to write more. So without further ado,

YES!

You can change it under 'Power Options' in the control panel.
You can set the defaults for when your laptop is plugged on or running on battery.
That only lets me set after how many minutes of inactivity the screen goes blank.

You should test whether you can fake a Fn-F3 keystroke with an on-screen keyboard. You can probably also use a scripting utility to tie it to some other key combination.
That's a good idea, do you have some software to recommend?

So I've been using this nifty book-sized Asus EEE for several years now. Like many laptops, it has some special controls like Fn+F2 to toggle WIFI, and Fn+F3 / F4 to decrease or increase screen brightness.

The odd thing is that my F3 key is broken and unresponsive. Does anyone have suggestions for an alternative way to turn my screen brightness down? There doesn't seem to be an option for it in the control panel, and all I've been able to find on google is to look in the control panel...

That would be fun as an adventure game...

Code: AGS
use gun on paratrooper
use gun on paratrooper
use gun on helicopter
...

I'm looking for a game (I don't remember if it was AGS or Flash). You play as a little girl, everything is black and white and sidescroll. There was a tree with a swing. There was a puzzle where some scissors where involved, you had to cut the swing or something like that.
Spooks. It's in the AGS database.

I am looking for the AGS chat client with source. It was one of the victims when Shutupload went down, apparently. Could somebody send me a copy please?

We can start karaoke'ing My Bumps by the Black Eyed Peas (although the version by Alanis Morissette is better...)

There have been several demos for Heroine's Quest, as shown here on archive.org. One of these was called demo2.zip, and was released approximately in January 2005.

Does anyone still have this demo?
