Once upon a time... Man (original title: Il était une fois... l'homme) maybe?

Pre-cut backing parchment. I don't know if other people have this problem, but pre-cut backing parchment recently really annoys me. It's never the right size for my oven, especially, it is too big. I can cut it into smaller pieces, but then I am left with snippets that are too small to use, or I can not cut it and use too big sheets. Either way, it's a waste of perfectly good backing parchment. Why do shops sell this? Why do enough people buy it that it makes sense for shops to sell it? And why does my local shop not sell the other kind?

Loved the show, at least the first season.

Not sure what's going on, but the last few times I tried to log in, I got this message:

And I wasn't logged in; so no need to log out before trying to log in again as the message suggests. Trying to log in immediately afterwards works fine though. No problems at all. Basically, I have to log in twice.

But neither Colouring Ball nor Sprite Jam were even close to dead before they just stopped.

Going back through the last 10 contests for both gives these numbers of entries (not entrants, sometimes someone posted more than one entry):

Colouring Ball: 4, 2, 9, 18, 5, 4, 8, 13, 7, 28
Sprite Jam: 0, 4, 4, 7, 0, 4, 4, 4, 15, 5

That looks pretty good.

As for Background Blitz, the numbers are:

0 (yet), 5, 6, 6, 5, 4, 3, 7, 8, 8

That seems fairly constant as well. (Granted, I looked at the number of entries and you're talking about people participating, but I don't think that makes much of a difference.)

I don't think any of these numbers show that the forums themselves have less people around (or are "dying"). It's just the normal fluctuation we always have.

The FWC always has even fewer entries, but some regulars who enter nearly every time or come back at least semi-regular and so we managed to keep it alive with often just two entries.


While I'm on the topic, I really think we should have a Music Competition again as well. The Competition Forum, in a way, shows diefferent aspects of game design and music is a large part of this. But at the same time I would argue that the Music Competition really did not have enough entries / regulars the last time it was active, so maybe there's really not enough interest in that one.

Not a suggestion for a new competition, more a question about old ones. Sprite Jam and Colouring Ball (Last Ones) had been a staple for a fairly long time in the forums and they died at around the same time (christmas 2019). Should they maybe be reactivated? Do people miss them?

Are threads that are in a restricted section of the forums supposed to show up in the "From the Forums" section on the main page?



As you can see in this screenshot: "Awards 2020 - Game library" shows up but seems to be in a restricted section - at least I think it is. It asks me to log-in when i click on it and when I do log in I'm redirected to the main forum page and can't find this thread through the search function, so I can only assume it's in a section I have no access to.
