This is sort of very loosely connected with the last one (the filmmakers have something in common):

Pi? Clerks?

(I'm pretty sure I've seen it, but I'm not sure in what movie. It looks like a low-budget film from the nineties, so it's probably either of those. They are so easily confused! (laugh))

No, no. Time to make it a little easier, I guess:

Sounds like you're about to put it together, Ilyich...

You'll probably get it on your own, but if you're desperate, take a peek (it's still not a total giveaway):

AGS.Types.Scripts doesn't return the correct count. If I have 10 scripts (5 header and 5 code) it returns 5 as the count (multiplying by 2 is not a good solution since some scripts may not have both file types).

Out of curiosity, how? Doesn't the editor always create and remove headers and script files together?

No, not that either.

I was totally about to say "Dr. No" too, but CW comment told me I was wrong.

Heh heh, the screen is massively unrepresentative of the movie. This might give it away, though.

No connection to the last movie, because connections are stupid!

Terror in a Texas Town! (I got "Terror in a ... Town" from the hint, TX from alliteration, and confirmation that such a film exists from Google)

I think the easiest thing would be to work out a formula for how many unit circles you can pack hexagonally in a certain square (size n, say). You just work out how many layers high you can stack it, then you know every other layer has floor(n) circles and every other floor(n)-1. Of course, in the square packing the number of circles is just floor(n)*floor(n).

I think the height needed for m layers is 0.5 + 0.5 + (m-1)*sin(60°) = 0.86602540378*(m-1) + 1. So if the height is n, you get m = 1.15470053838 * (n - 1) + 1
Then you calculate whether floor(n)*floor(n) is greater than or less than ceil(m/2)*floor(n) + floor(m/2)*(floor(n)-1). I can't be bothered with the algebra right now, but if you plot those two formulas, you should be able to find the intersection point.

Edit: I just realized it's a little more complicated than that, because if the width is at least n+0.5 (but less than n+1), you can fit n pipes in every row. I'd probably just calculate it for integer n first, then use the more detailed formula to figure out exactly where it flips.

Edit 2: And by plugging the formulas into Excel, the flipping point turns out to be at 1 + 7*sin(60°) = 7.06217783. Below this, you can fit 46 pipes in the hexagonal arrangement; above it you get room for another (eighth) layer and can fit 52. In the square packing you can fit 7*7 = 49.

I'm not going to imdb this since I'm probably wrong, but wasn't there a short-lived David Lynch TV show called something like Radioland Murders and in that same visual style?

As for the last picture, that non-spacesuited guy looks like he could be Roy Scheider, so I'm going to guess 2010: The Year We Make Contact.

Aw man! I knew it looked Poe-y. I was going to guess Berenice, but it turns out it was never adapted in that time frame.

Surely that's miguel's win? I mean, it's obvious that's the film he was referring to.

You should test whether you can fake a Fn-F3 keystroke with an on-screen keyboard. You can probably also use a scripting utility to tie it to some other key combination.
That's a good idea, do you have some software to recommend?

There's an on-screen keyboard built into Windows.

I've used the MS Keyboard Layout Creator to remap my keyboard (in order to type in accents and special character in a Mac-like way); Keyboard Layout Manager looks like another option. I haven't used it, but there's been some talk about AutoHotkey as a Windows scripting solution. Hopefully you could make it work with one of these.

Not sure whether this is fixable, but there have some minor but bothersome issues with the post editor and how to enter bbcode tags.

1. If your selection stretches over multiple lines, it will put a start and end tag on each line (instead of just one at the beginning and end of the selection):

Code: AGS
[b]Example:[/b]
[b][/b]
[b]Multiple lines with tags inserted.[/b]

The only tag I think this behavior is appropriate for is [li].

2. Secondly, after inserting the tag, the text selection in the editing window is deselected, which is inconvenient whenever you want to add multiple tags to the same selection.

3. And is there really no way to make [code] blocks default to AGS if no parameter is given? All old posts that have code from before the tag change are currently broken.

4. Finally, the post editor used to have a link to a bbcode reference page; would it be possible to bring that back?
