When sliced foods (cured ham, smoked salmon, etc.) come in packages arranged so that the topmost slices are on the opposite side of the side that opens. It's a small "fuck you" to the customers.

Hmm, I'm relatively sure that it's not The Lobster, which is the movie that comes to mind that best fits that description.

Ooh, that makes me think: is it that movie with Noomi Rapace? Lamb?

Yesterday took me 5, my worst result in a good while, but I made up for it today with a lucky first guess:

Wordle 336 2/6

🟨⬜🟩🟩⬜
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Spoiler
CORAL
SCRAP

With my average safely below 4, I might switch to hard mode just to mix things up.

I have one in mind and will put it up tomorrow.

I haven't tested it, but I assume adding message = GetTranslation(message); to the top of SayBubble(), SayAtBubble() and SayBackgroundBubble() would do the trick. (Or if not right at the top, right under if(message==null) return;.)

Interesting game today.

Wordle 329 4/6

⬜🟨⬜⬜🟨

Skill 97/100
Luck 47/100

Spoiler
After CLINE and REGAL, I was left with MEDAL, PEDAL, METAL, and PETAL. FETAL is also a valid word and in fact on the list of Wordle solutions, but they were hardly going to run that just days after they nixed FETUS. There was a 1/4 chance of getting it in 3 and a guaranteed win in 4 no matter which one I picked. I didn't get lucky.

Yup, well done!

This would have been my next clue:

Daniel Radcliffe starred in the 2012 remake as the unfortunate young lawyer; this is the TV movie from 1989. The guy in the first picture is Bernard Hepton as the local farming magnate who helps the hero; Hepton starred in Secret Army, a brilliant drama about the Belgian Resistance that has unfortunately been overshadowed by its parody, 'Allo 'Allo! (He's also, I've just learned, in Get Carter.)

"It's not a remake, it's a new adaptation of the source material."

I would have thought some of you would have seen this…

As another hint, I'll add that the remake starred someone known from the Harry Potter movies.

Me too.  (nod)

Wordle 328 2/6

🟩⬜⬜🟨⬜
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

(Wordlebot points out that this was just a lucky guess, as there were 11 possible solutions after the first row.)

Here's an idea for an adventure game puzzle: let's say you learn that somebody always uses the same starting word in Wordleâ€"and also as their password for something you need access to. From the blanked-out records of 2 or 3 games, reconstruct their starting word, starting from the known last row (the solution).

Today I got a double Wordle! After solving it on my computer I usually retype my guesses into my phone to share with some others over SMS. But today the puzzle was different on each. On my computer I had:

Wordle 324 3/6

⬜🟩🟩⬜🟩
⬜⬜⬜🟩⬜
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Spoiler
CHIDE, WRONG (to decide between WHILE, SHIRE and SHINE, with THINE and SHITE as other valid words unlikely to be Wordle answers; though as long as I hadn't overlooked anything it would have been better to just guess one of the answers, since it would reveal the right alternative anyway), SHINE

But on my phone I got:

Wordle 324 3/6

⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨
🟨🟩⬜⬜🟩
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Spoiler
CHIDE, TEARS, FETUS

I think it's pretty clear that this was the original puzzle, and that NYT changed it given recent news, since it might be seen as sensitive/controversial.

Indeed it is: the show where Volodomyr Zelenskyy played a guy who becomes president of Ukraine.

I was really thrilled to see the guy in the last picture pop up in this film, since he stars in a personal favorite show (a classic WWII drama).

(I should also perhaps say that this is a TV movie, though there was a remake for cinemas a few years back. I think the TV-movie version is better remembered, though.)

It's Fate By Numbers, but given that I'm currently hosting both the Film and TV guessing games I hope someone else can do the next game.

Might be for the style of pants, maybe?

I've been playing a 4 average recently, with the 3s and 5s canceling out.

Spoiler
I had bad luck guessing between FAIRY/DAIRY/HAIRY and ended up with a 5 there. I was also annoyed that Wordlebot pulled down my score (after a literally perfect game up to that point, with 99/100 Skill on each of the previous turns) for guessing LARCH over LARVA, because LARCH doesn't happen to be one of the Wordle solutions. Well, sorr-ee! On the other hand, I did really need to spend an extra turn on FORGO even though it was the only remaining possibility just because I couldn't come up with it, so that wasn't so good.

This one doesn't really count, since I was spoiled by a hint Ali posted on Twitter.

Natasha Lyonne is naturally funny, but yeah, I don't think the show is predominantly comedic.

I haven't actually seen the movie, but Michael Caine in that suit is iconic.
