Nope. Hint: There is a link to the last movie.

That's gotta be Raised by Wolves.

I thought the book was OK, but didn't hear many good things about the movie. I know they changed the ending, and weren't all the vines done in CGI or something? Interesting to hear that it may be underrated.

This, I expect, is a total gimme:

All right!

I never saw the movie, but I read the book, and your description rang a faint bell. I can't believe the book came out back in 2006 and the film in 2008â€"if you'd asked me I would have guessed I read it around 2012 and the film was maybe 2016.

Is it The Ruins?

Yeah, I also liked it.

And yes, knowing that it is due to an engine bug, and having a workaround until it gets fixed, I think we would consider the question solved.
#630
An alternative solution in this case would be to just… let the animation play twice, because it looks pretty cool. :P :-D

Good job confirming it's an engine bug, CW! Yes, once the problem was narrowed down it did start to sound vaguely familiar, but I wasn't able to dig up a previous report of the bug. Edit: The same problem was previously reported here, but the cause was not found.

(When fixing this bug, maybe take a look at this one too, if it hasn't already been addressed.)

First, you seem to be missing an UnlockView after the animation, though I'm not sure whether SetView takes care of it. In any case, I would add that for consistency.

Then I'd start by commenting out the rest of the cut-scene. Does it still happen?
Then try commenting out the Move, and change the Animate to blocking. Does it still happen?
Then try commenting out the parts before the Animate. Does it still happen?

If you're left with just that one command and it still plays the animation twice, the problem must not be in the script.

Sometimes I think I've spent the last twenty-plus years looking for music that reminds me of my favorite trip hop tracks—which were always the really slow, grimy, druggy beats.

... Like "Risingson":

... and "Going Under":

(Also available in an even slower, druggier dub.)

Huey Lewis sued Columbia and Ray Parker Jr. over the Ghostbusters theme, while the band that wrote "Soul Finger" got nothing.

I was just reminded that several AGSers are due to have babies around this time:

Finn Coren set a whole bunch of William Blake poems to some really good music (take "To Tirza" for example). The only thing that detracts from it, in my book, is that his English pronunciation is not great.

Oh yeah, just catching up, and that's a really fun track, Laura. I dig it. It reminds me a little bit of a band my sister got me into:

This is more of a pet peeve, but it always annoys me in movies and TV shows when characters wear glasses, but you can tell from the lack of distortion that they're just flat glass, not proper lenses. I find this more distracting than people drinking from empty cups or all the other little moviemaking fakes.

I think it would be something that needs to run before the function that tells the character to go to place "x"

I was hoping Character.MovementLinkedToAnimation could be switched on the fly while walking. It would also require some sort of IsCurrentlyScrolling module state, at least internally.

- character with movement linked to animation moving fast will produce "ghosting" when scrolling as the previous module did. I tried a ton of things and decided is just best to not have movement linked to animation with large scrolling areas and fast characters.

Something that just occurred to me is that it might be possible to have movement linked to animation that is automatically disabled (and movement speeds adjusted accordingly) only when the background is scrolling. That way you avoid gliding whenever the background is static, but get smooth scrolling without character "ghosting" or jittering when it scrolls. (The trade-off is of course that the character will glide whenever the room is scrolling, but my hypothesis is that this will be less noticeable.)

That's one of those 90s one-hit-wonders (I read an FAQ with White Town a while back where he said he'd pretty much given up his music career after this song, though he seems to have made a very minor comeback). I remember with a mix of fondness and cringe. (See also: Fools Garden, "Lemon Tree")

I'd never heard these guys before, but... instant fan:
