Messages - Snarky

It seems like more or less every extended character (typographic, foreign letters, etc.) in every old post has been mangled. Is it not possible to fix this?

Yesss! It's so good!

(I thought someone might recognize NASA ground control with everyone's favorite Nazi rocket scientist.)

This might be, for my money, the best new show of last year, though few have seen it:

I can't tell whether the cowboy looks like Sam Rockwell or Luke Wilson, but Elvis is clearly Woody Harrelson.

Someone else can take my turn, I don't have a movie to use at this point.

The Abominable Dr. Phibes?

(Googling to figure out what the abominable doctor's name was appears to confirm this guess.)

Hopefully by unspamming them, the filters will smarten up. (If people wanna PM me, I can speed up the training!)

Thanks! Turns out the PM notifications are actually being caught by Gmail's spam filter. Hmm...

I used to have my account set up to email me a notification when I received a PM. This recently stopped working (the last notification I got was a week ago), and now I can no longer find this setting.

This is a bit outside the usual (since it's handled by a secret jury rather than open nominations and vote), but I'd like to bring suggestions for the juried categories:

Best Innovation: Dualnames

When I won it last year, in large part for the AGS Awards client, I was shocked to discover that Dualnames had not got the award years ago (although he did work on Colourwise, which was the basis for bicilotti's win in 2008). He did most of the work on the original client and maintained it for years, and has made many other contributions besides. He deserves this award.

Lifetime Achievement: densming

For making the popular AGS YouTube tutorials, which have taught so many people how to code in AGS. Enough said!

You're on the right track, but that's not the title of this series.

Nope, though that's a good one too.

Hint: This series shares a universe with a movie and another TV show that a number of people on the forum have seen.

This one might be a little obscure, so I'll post some more obvious ones if no one gets it straight away:

there are no good spoof/parody movies made anymore. Instead you get serious franchises becoming ridiculous and garbage like the Scary movie sequels,

I don't entirely agree.

I think there have been some pretty good movie spoofs within the last ten years or so (at least, more recent than the Scary Movie sequels). For example Wet Hot American Summer (the first Netflix show, if the movie doesn't count), Walk Hard, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, 21/22 Jump Street, They Came Together, Spy, Popstar, What We Do in the Shadows… I haven't seen the MacGruber movie, but I've heard that it's growing into cult status.

And plenty of movies incorporate genre parody elements, either to poke fun of their own genre or as part of a more general comedy, without IMHO becoming ridiculous: Deadpool, The Lego Movie, Wreck-It Ralph, The Nice Guys, Into the Spider-Verse, The Cabin in the Woods, Knives Out, Jumanji, Game Night, Happy Death Day, Damsels in Distress, Isn't It Romantic… (I didn't care much for Kingsman, Ready or Not, or The Man from UNCLE, but they also appeal to some.)
