I mean, just going by the first image it's got to be Treme, right?

I have spent probably days of my life complaining about Prometheus. Truly one of those "don't get me started" topics.

Incidentally, I'm typing this on one of those fucking Macbook "butterfly" keyboards. Apart from the pitiful travel, they make a noise like I'm a journalist pecking out the latest scoop in a black and white movie.

Clue?

Yup.

Even though I pretty much knew it would be guessed on the first screen, I wasted an inordinate amount of time getting a bunch of captures, so I might as well post them:

Thanks. I took some time off for Christmas, but here's another film:

All right, since nobody's responding… there aren't that many internationally known Icelandic movies, and it was pretty easy to spot the right one.

Rams.

(I think I've heard of it. Is it any good?)

This bit from the plot summary on Wikipedia (spoilers, obvs) cracked me up and gives a pretty good sense of what the show is like:

QuotePathologist Dr. Bondo attempts to convince the family of a man dying from liver cancer to donate his liver to the hospital for Bondo's research. (In fact, Bondo wants it as a trophy, as it is the second largest hepatosarcoma ever recorded.) When his request is denied, Bondo has the cancerous liver transplanted into his own body (as the patient signed an organ donor form), so that the cancer will become his personal property and can be kept within the hospital.

You're right: Lars von Trier's Riget (The Kingdom).

Stephen King did the remake series, which I've heard was not particularly good.

 :-D

It's a comedy-horror-soap somewhat in the vein of Twin Peaks (with a pinch of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace). Although not made in English, the show was enough of a cult hit to be edited into a movie version for the UK and US, and later got an American remake.

I know for a fact that several people active on the forums are fans of this show.
Maybe you'll recognize this guy…

OK, fair warning about this next screencap. It's all sorts of upsetting and nsfw:

That was pretty easy, yeah.  :P

I came across my old DVDs of this series the other day. For some reason I had to import it from Japan (or Taiwan? I forget) way back when. Now the whole thing is just a google-click away. Truly an age of wonders…

The first one, I thought it was Can You Ever Forgive Me?
Now I'm not so sure.

I heard that (again) recently when I watched Scream and Scream 2 for Halloween, and I remember thinking that it was probably about God. ("You're one microscopic cog in his catastrophic plan, designed and directed by his red right hand.") And apparently it's an allusion to Paradise Lost.

Listening again, it seems to me like it's about "The Man," a catch-all for authority structures that have the power to upend your life: the military, drug syndicates, Hollywood…

I've been rereading the Discworld series. Guess which book I'm up to...

Wrong; it's actually Hogfather. But I've been checking out different versions of the Phantom since Maskerade.

Eerie, Indiana?

Edit: Wait, that wouldn't have been in widescreen. Never mind.

I thought I was going senile, because I could have sworn I was swapping cassette tapes with "Bohemian Like You" with friends in high school, but it only came out while I was at university. However, mystery solved — I was thinking of this:

LF, I think it's pretty normal for music tastes to "get stuck" at a certain point and not accommodate newer stuff. I know I don't listen to contemporary pop radio if I can help it. (Though I don't mind Billie Eilish, so it's not an absolute bar.) And that's probably OK — after all, teens presumably want some stuff for themselves — though it's a bit of a shame to lose out on good newer stuff, so it might be worth making a bit of an effort to keep up. Besides, there's a "test of time" filtering effect, too. You might be happy going back to selected tunes/bands from the 60s-80s, but would you really want to listen to an unfiltered list of what was playing on the radio back then?

Edit: If the mental block is "respect", maybe it will help to look up some biographical details about particular artists? I find that in many cases it makes me admire the talent and hard work that's gone into achieving their success.
