Just because it has some bits set in a comics store (very unconvincingly portrayed by the actors, none of which seem like they've ever actually been in one, I might add).

Correct. I didn't think it was quite as funny as the first one, and the ending is much too much, but taking these screen grabs I notice that there's some visual gag I hadn't noticed in almost every shot of the movie.

I watched a really long trailer for that in a cinema in Switzerland last year. Cool visual style, and I seem to recall being quite impressed by the (French) voice acting: they had actual kids do the voices, didn't they?

I liked Season 1 well enough, but haven't had a chance to take a look at S2. Any good?

It sure is, Kweepa! With Keri "Felicity" Russell as the deep-cover KGB agent slash all-American working mom (and Matthew Rhys as her husband slash assigned partner).

Clue 1: That's the same woman in the second and latest screenshot. She's one of the leads.
Clue 2: As you can see from the aspect ratio/image quality, it's a modern show.
Clue 3: As you can see from the fashions/hair styles, it's not set in the present.
Clue 4: All smiles seen in these pictures are faked by the characters.

It's because Aykroyd wasn't acting in a role, but hosted it as himself. It's listed under the "Self" tab on IMDB.

I think I must have seen this at some point in the 90s, but it made zero impression whatsoever. And I recognized Colin Fox but couldn't put a name to the face.   (Edit: He was in the Maniac Mansion show as Ed Edison!)

I was obsessed with this show as a kid. Much later, Avatar: The Last Airbender was the first other show to really scratch that same itch.
