I'm getting FATHIS, which assuming the ending is wrong, Fathers.

Other than that I have no clue, nor do I understand the context of the riddle if that is the answer so I am assuming that is not it.

It starts with the meeting of two failures.

The big bang

Quote from: Renodox on Fri 09/11/2012 07:04:12
They next bring about two who they thought others would admire.

switching from science back to make believe, Adam and Eve?

But ending wrong THIS had to pay dearly.

Eve betrayed god and humans paid dearly by being able to suffer pain in childbirth

I have no idea, but I think it's something profound, like Life

The chips normally have a serial number on them. Google it and hope to find a source for the parts.

Those components however are surface mounted, so you would either have to have a machine or an insane amount of soldering skills to replace that chip. That's even if it is that chip that is dead for certain.

Also I was under the impression you could swap the circuit boards on hdd's as long as they are like for like the same model.

If it's all that important to you, I'd just bite the bullet and get a pro to fix it for you. If it's a genuine backup drive and you are backing up properly it should be redundant anyway as long as the original drive is still functional.

Invest in a surge protector too. It's possible that's what killed your last drive too, and it will randomly kill other components in your pc. Seems to be loads of dirty power in the south

Can anyone tell me, in terms of computers, what precisely is an executive?
I know it's basically a kind of user interface, but what's the difference between an executive and a shell, for instance?

Hope this helps.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Architecture_of_Windows_NT#Executive

Essentially a collection of services. Probably things like svchost etc, that are core to the system and loaded first.

[update]
Just found the link to the original site..... You can grab it from there as well...

Sweet! I didn't realise he was back in action. I hosted his site for a little while until I moved servers and he took time off to do his 3d (which is pretty stunning btw). Glad to see he is up and running again.

As a self confessed fan of DNG (probably my favourite AGS game) this makes me happy.

Anyways here is my effort to keep on topic. For as long as my host stays up (it sometimes gets suspended cos i forget to pay the bill), you can get Da New Guys from here http://indiegamesource.net/modules.php?name=Downloads&min=50&cid=1

Also whilst the site is pretty much dead whilst I revamp it all with a whole new design, the downloads section does contain some older games, some hard to find. Feel free to whore them out to your hearts content
