Yeah. I saw a lot of people complaining about the lighting decisions of the latest GoT episode. I haven't got around to the new series yet but I will remember to turn the brightness up.

Well, the EU wants to get rid of it, so there's good news for you.
It grinds my gears that despite the EU wanting to get rid of it, Britain is fighting to keep it. Despite the majority (if not all) British citizens agreeing with the EU and wanting rid of it!
Reading that, you'd think Britain had a bit of an awkward relationship with the EU or something.

This looks pretty cool. Best of luck with it.

The comedian Richard Herring spends the whole of International Women's Day trolling everyone on Twitter asking “When's International Men's Day?” (which is a lot of people), and in the process manages to raise thousands of pounds for Refuge.

Here's his Twitter account:

A movie experience I did enjoy, that others might not, was back when the Scream movies were popular. During build up scenes that would have you on the edge of your seat a member of the staff dressed up in the Scream outfit would burst into the theater and run down the isle. People would literally jump out of their seats. lol.
Was this a special screening for fans where people might have expected such behaviour or did everyone think they were just going to a normal screening?

To be fair, the cinema isn't library. You're not trying to read a book. You've paid to watch a movie in the company of hundreds of other people. You might not necessarily talk to the people next to you but it's still very much a social experience. Sometimes (especially here in Japan) the silence during funny bits is even more gear-grinding. You need someone with a well-timed ‘oh snap' to break the tension and give the audience permission to react to the film in a way that the filmmaker almost certainly intended.

I'm not saying people should chat and eat loudly and bring young children into the room (I agree with Blondbraid in this) but for me the film is much more enjoyable when there is almost an element of interaction between the audience and the screen.

That's really up to you. If you've got the money to gamble then why not? Especially if it's cheaper than the actual release price will be. Personally I've never really been all that into preordering games.

We've just had a company-wide teachers' meeting day (aka “training”). Our boss told us that, at the end of each day, the CD players that we use should be unplugged (fair enough) and that the lids to the CD trays should be open? Why on earth would that be best practice? Let alone company policy? What about dust?

No one seemed to know why he was asking us to do this, least of all himself. Can anyone here enlighten me?

[edit] I told my wife and she had a brainwave. It could be that, by their thinking, if we make s point of leaving the tray open there is no chance that we'll accidentally leave a CD in there. Seems plausible, but I wonder if that's the real reason.

Just go to any pathway that leads to any human and then tell them what you want. Either they'll patch you through to the correct department or sometimes they can still help you. I've never worked in a call center so I might be talking rubbish but I'm pretty sure that sometimes the calls go to the same people anyway. It's just that they can put the right hat on before answering your call.

@Dan. What's the title of the Joke book you mentioned?
I had one from the 70s that I found in my attic when I was 12. It must've belonged to my father. Only good thing I ever inherited from him.

The thing that bugs me about it is how he has to spell out the subtext.  Subtext shouldn't need to be made a part of the telling of the story.
Yeah it's really basic “we shouldn't judge people by the colour of their skin” stuff that while I admit some people seem like they need reminding. But if you're old enough to have a Facebook account and still have to be reminded about that then you are beyond help.

I'm not entirely convinced. The people who spend that kind of money on sneakers, they generally want to be seen wearing them.

I wouldn't even pay $200. Not for something whose literal purpose is to be repeatedly pumped into a filthy pavement on a daily basis.
