I wish I knew.   I was a backer too, but I have no idea what's going on.  Really wish the auther would give an update.

Since my question was rather rudely shut down in the game's own thread I'll ask here:

Has anyone heard anything about the game Alum?  As it's been three months since they won backing on Kickstarter, and as far as I can see there has been no news.

I just played the Alum demo.
There's a link on the kickstarter page.
There is two demo's floating around .
I think the newest one has a folder called 'compiled' ,which u will see when open the zip file.
I sent a comment ,coz i couldn't download from his medifire link and he sent me a firedrive link for the latest demo.
I think it's looking like it's gonna be a good ags game.

Ahh yeah I've also played the demo since writing that. Very good indeed. Can't wait for it to be completed.

Happy Bday Sunny P :-)

It's Google Docs, hehe. Not sure if I can hack them. There must be a jolly good reason why it doesn't work otherwise they will surely have implemented it (it also doesn't work in Excel). I mean all I want to do is make a football-style league table that updates the order when you enter new data onto the other sheet.  Anyway, it's not really a problem.

You'll see what I'm talking about in a little while ;)

Ahh okay. So there's no way of doing it with the references intact?  I guess that's not toooo much hassle.  I'll just have to keep one unordered version of the table with the references and then manually maintain an ordered referenceless table next to it or something. Thanks Billbis.

Any spreadsheet experts here?
I'm making a table whose data relies on references to cells in another sheet.  The table looks great, that is until I try to sort the rows based on the values of one column. It seems data doesn't like to be resorted when it contains cell references. Why not? And is there a workaround?  Thanks

I am the only photoshop filter fanatic.

As for topics, correct me if I'm wrong but I'm not sure if you guys have done an episode dedicated to scripting/coding. It's come up occasionally in passing but maybe there's more to be said... Or Maybe there's nothing to be said at all. You decide. I'm just interested in your thoughts on the topic, any tricks or shortcuts you've acquired, anything you like/hate about scripting. Your proudest scripting achievement. Your worst piece of code ever. Whatever really... :-)

Off she went with a trumpety trump,

And phew, I thought you were going to go that whole podcast without mentioning me.  Thank god I slipped in at the end.  My ego!  MY EGO!
You got mentioned within 4 minutes :P

I don't get what the big fuss is about non-linearity, like it's some Holy Grail of game design.  It's a nice touch if you have the resources, but it's not really that important to me. What are important to me are interactivity and exploration, both of which can create the illusion of non-linearity, which is fine by me.  Even a sprawling sand-box game like GTA has certain story check-points along the way making for an overall fairly linear story, well disguised in exploration and open-worldiness.

If you want to provide me, as a player, with some degree of choice along the way, then great.  If you can create the illusion that I am having some impact over how the story is playing out, then even better, but you don't have to create multiple branches and personalised endings in order to make me happy.  Tell me a story. Just one story will be fine. I'm probably only likely to play the game once anyway.  And if I play it again it's because I enjoyed it the first time around. So if I want a different story I can play a different game.

I grew up on Marmite, and rarely go a day without the stuff in some form or another, usually on toast. It also makes for a tasty hot drink. :-* I'm not sure if the Aussies drink Vegemite, though. Do they, Ben?

What I mean is if I click on a link to a post (that is new to me) in the 'From the Forums' list and then go to the forum index page, the board with the post in it will still have a blue cup next to it signifying 'new posts' and if I click on that board the thread I have just visited will still have the orange 'NEW' symbol next to it.  Clicking on that will bring me to the post I have just read and not a new post.

Maybe it does mark as 'read', but it doesn't unmark as 'new'.

[edit]  Okay. I just tested it again and the orange thing didn't come up. :-[ Maybe I imagined it haha. The blue cup still did though, but I guess that's because you're bypassing that page when you jump to the post
