Ahhh, well played Cleanic.  I was barking in the wrong forest :(
Not a bad riddle though.  You got any more like that, Renodox? Or anyone?

The Holy Trinity?

1. FAther (Jesus had two FAthers - Joseph and God)
2. Son. (Everyone admired him... 'Jesus' is a two syllable word)
3. Holy Spirit (I don't know, it's just a bloody guess for Christ's sake!)

[EDIT]
Quote from: Renodox
But ending wrong...
I think the word we are after ends with a 'g', or maybe with 'ng'.
Can't for the life of me think what the word might be though... Faffing?

Yeah, now that people have said life/humans/mankind etc, that seems to fit.  But that's not stopping me from trying to think of an alternative solution ;)

I think it is a trilogy of some sort, but can't think what...

Is it The Hunger Games?
1. Katniss and Peeta, both District 12 dwellers with nothing going for them.
2. Erm... can't see how that fits.
3. THIS = The hunger games themselves  - I won't spoil the ending.

Or is it.. 50 Shades trilogy?
Or Millennium Trilogy?

Or it doesn;t actually have to be a trilogy really. Could just be a movie or a book and the riddle gives us the basic plot structure, and the 'THIS' which pays dearly is the title of the book/movie.

Or am I just barking up the wrong tree altogether?

Haha, as I was typing you write that... I guess they didn't have The Hunger Games before modern civilization... :(

I dunno the film title, but that looks like a souvenir from the gift shop of your local abortion clinic.

@Ascovel.  Oh, yeah. I ran it again and it sure does use DOSbox.  At least it does so automatically rather than the user having to fart about trying to get it to run.
#890
Gabriel Knight is on GOG.com, so it works fine without DOSbox if you get it from there.

Could it be Romeo and Juliet, perchance?
That building behind the balloons looks like it could be in Luhrmann's Verona.
I don't actually remember these scenes though :/
