I thought about these people on abydos in stargate too, but I've seen the movie way too often to know it's not from the film so I didn't post at all

Uhoh, then I did you a grave injustice, Ponch.
I thought your 'Stargate' guess was a 'Blade Runner!' guess.

I totally knew where you were coming from though:
'The Man Who Would Be King' ends, desert still there, 300 years or so pass, there you go = Stargate! (<- That sequence
seemed absolutely logical to me at that time - disturbing, ain't it?!)

WOW! I tried to make that shot as obscure as possible without being unfair. But that didn't seem to bother Baron one bit. Dead on target!

It is indeed "The Man Who Would Be King" (1975), the adventures and misadventures of Daniel Dravot & Peachey Carnehan.
An adaptation of a Rudyard Kippling novella and directed by John Huston.

Your turn, Baron.

@Ponch: It is also 'Stargate' - but only AFTER it is 'The Man Who Would Be King'

HAHAHA! Nice one! Keep it coming... :cheesy:

Awww, man, why do I know that bloody movie! I want to do some guessing too!

...aah, what the heck: "Vinnie Diesel Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"

OK, here it goes...

That one should inspire at least some insane titles, eh?

edit: An epic classic! One of those, that never seem to grow stale on me. Protagonists or protagonist not in the shot!

The very same... go on... bring it home.

OK, I'm fairly sober again...
I suppose it's "Breakheart Pass", that scene where they throw the 'stoker that knew too much' out of
the locomotive into that gorge?

edit: I had to suppress the incredible urge to guess something like "Puppetmaster"!!! ;)

To be honest, I'd rather let someone else guess that title. Got a slight hangover from yesterday.

But I quite like it, especially that they took a genre and went the other way with it.

Ah, indeed. That different kind of western "summit thing", having C.D. Buchinsky in it.

I didn't actually spell it out - definitely Snarky's turn.

Besides, a well-known Cat & Mouse just ganged up on me in the Awards thread  and now I have to
go pixel-pushing me some fancy tux to be eligible for tonights ceremony!

Vanishing Point. Two Lane Blacktop. Thunder Road. American Classics all.

I'm a sucker when it comes to road movies. Still, 'Vanishing Point' is something else. The plot is so simple, but it's so much
more than the sum of it's parts.
Best of all, the whole film feels as if it isn't 'trying too hard'.
And in this 'not trying very hard'-attitude it succeeds where other movies feel the need to stuff endless tirades of "elaborate symbolic intricacies"
into the viewer, all the while stifling their own 'flow'.
Vanishing Point, on the other hand is, first and foremost, flow. A fecking awesome movie to just sit back and watch. It's almost a sublimation
of a road movie. Meaning comes easy, subtle and seemingly effortless.   /*sorry for rambling... :cheesy:

You're close, Trampoline:) And I know you know who the father is.

Yes, I seem to know the movie and who it's father is.

The movie's title sounds similar to some non-medical physical culture invention of the late 70s.
(Sigfried & Roy e.g. seem to have excessively overused that particular gadget!)

Well, it does look like the love child of "Clockwork Orange" and "Stalker"...

Is it perhaps of Indian origin?

:cheesy: And 'Vanishing Point' it is, Kasander. Take it away, sir!

If anyone would've told me a few years ago, that one day I'd be spellbound by a movie about a
guy driving a CAR from A to B (!?), I'd have, quite fankly, laughed in their faces!

Now, that's a line of thought that's definitely worth pursuing!

Up to a certain extend very much in spirit of Sugarland E., but lesser known and lesser pretentious! (...and simply better.)

The protagonist has a very common Polish (last) name and, apart from one or two exceptions, is always addressed by this last name.

Getting even closer in terms of timeframe.

Even though it's hilarious :cheesy:, don't get too hung up on the whole horsy business AND
that guy in the pic is NOT the protagonist. (You'd probably know him - too easy ).

edit: ..also, to say that this movie has groove, is an understatement. This movie IS groove,
visually, musically & the feeling it evokes, while watching.

A great donkeythrilling movie. But alas, no...

Though, the timeframe of Thunderheart's setting is very, very close to the release date of the movie in question.

Nah, but couple that with "Days of Donkey" (1990) (...you know, the one starring that cheesy grinning, scientopathological sideshow freak )

...to be fair, you're kind of on the right track, Kasander.

Nope. Neither kinky donkey porn, nor that truely awesome film by the Coen brothers.
Though both of them share certain similarities in their depiction and use of landscapes.

edit: ...by the way, Stu. Did you check the image's properties? My thoughts exactly, when I took that screen-shot!

Sweet. Here we go:

This movie is one hell of a ride! Watch it if you get the chance.
One exceptional example of a subdued plot achieving greatness in it's wake.

Sorry for the low quality of the shot. Will post another one if that one is too obscure.

'Humility Conflagration'  (shouldn't count, no 'proper' guess.)

edit: Aah, what the heck. It's a shot of Dirk Bogarde from groovy campy 'Modesty Blaise'.
