For me, it is a time issue. At the moment, it can be even difficult to find time to write forum posts or do moderation stuff (the awards also required lots of time). I hope one day I can enter MAGS again, but I doubt this will be soon.

I agree with others about the assets. Maybe it would be a good idea to allow existing graphics and animations just like music and sound. I would not restrict it to RON but allow any material that is publicly available. This means you cannot use stuff you made before and had lying on your disk, so everyone has the same conditions for making a game.

OK, I noticed my midi wasn't working either anymore...
Somehow I couldn't get BASS Midi driver to work again correctly, so uninstalled that and went for VirtualMIDISynth.
So, after loading the soundfont (Arachno) in the VirtualMIDISynth's tab Soundfonts, MIDI was working again.
Also: MIDI runs fine again for AGS games.
I tried that, didn't work either.

HOWEVER, Windows installed a big update today and now the native Windows MIDI is working again :-D

It's a bit weird for me to set my own game, but since it was suggested by three people and there was no other game mentioned, I've put it up as PotM. Thanks Ibispi!

:P

I'm sure there are other cheerful games around ;)

I installed BASS Midi driver and Arachno sf. In my MIDI tool I can now select it and listen to the MIDI. The sound of one of the rather obscure instruments used sounds terrible now, but ok, at least I can run it.

However, I cannot get MIDI to run for AGS games. I don't get the error message anymore, but I also don't have audio (mp3 sfx work fine).
VLC and Windows Media Player also cannot run it.
The weirdest thing so far is: Suddenly Irfan View can play it, but it sounds like the original Windows Midi, not the Arachno. Did Irfan View find the windows synth? I'm about to give up and reinstall windows...

We need a new pick for January! Since we now had three rather dark games in a row, something more light-hearted would be nice ;)

Congratulations! Finally it is done - I know how hard you have been working on this, with ups and downs, but you did it! I had the honour to test act 1 and 2 and the game is really great - classic puzzles, funny dialogs and hilarious references to almost every science fiction franchise between here and Acturus-1.

Don't forget to add the game to the AGS database Done :)

Here's one I use: the Arachno SoundFont (free download: www.arachnosoft.com/main/soundfont.php)

Which software synth are you using?
#436
Thanks NicolaGs. I was hoping to get the Windows Synth to work, but I guess I'll try your solution.

Suddenly MIDI does not work on my Win10 PC anymore ??? No matter what MIDI program I use (media player, VLC, midi editing tool), none of them can find the Windows MIDI device.
I have the Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth listed in Device Manager->Software devices, tried to deinstall/install it, still doesn't work.

Does anyone have an idea what can be wrong here?

I played the game and like it as well although it is pretty disturbing. I set it as pick of the month but I added a warning.

Btw, the release date is not relevant for pick of the month.
#439
Pick of the Month is not about reviews, but about games you like and recommend to a larger audience.

Almost December! Any recommendations?
