This is looking better and better! Looking forward to seeing things move around in this Rik City.  (nod)

The download link to the demo doesn't work anymore. It would be cool if you updated it, or if you don't want it there anymore, edit the post with a strikethrough like this to show it's removed. (I hope it's available...)

Just to be clear, will this game be eligible for the AGS Awards as it is, or does the author have to make a new entry in the database to get the correct "time stamp" in order to be so?

Hello!
I'm looking for a game but can't remember it's name, it's an AGS game.
You are a detective, you start in the lobby of a building, where there was a murder, you can talk to some of the residents that are in there. You then move to the apartment and then to the bedroom where the murder victim is kinda nailed to the wall or something like that. Another detective, I think its a woman, is in the bedroom too.
You are talking about Abscission. Thread here. Demo on Itch here. The game is still in production, updated devlog not long ago, and it's looking good.

The graphics are ok for the moment. I don't have have seen many because i died quickly without saving. I'm too lazy to restart all for now.

So my pro-tip is : save often because it seems you die often (the death was deserved btw, never touch all you see in this kind of old-school game).
Yep. Save often! There are some puzzles later on you probably will have to solve through trial and error, dying a lot in the process. There are lots of cool death animations and messages.

(disregard if it breaks the game/doesn't exist in game universe)

I know several people who do stuff like accessing facebook by typing "Facebook" into google, and clicking the first link, so...  :=
I think I know people who start by typing google in order to find google first (effectively googling google), and then click the google link before typing facebook into google.

Matti's MAGS entry with the theme "time", RunAway is at https://archive.org/details/mags-runaway It's a clever concept  where the player chooses the best route to run through enemy lines.

Another arcade game is Invasion of the Floating Death-Orbs, which is a surprisingly addictive shooter in limited space, with steering like Thrust with constant full pedal. It's at www.vanwijst.com/games/invasion.zip and it's by master funny scribe, the Baron. Please add it to the database, my lord!

Then there are the AGS entries from the recent Adventure Jam 2022 which are not in the database yet:
The Witch's Lullaby by Honza (overall winner!) is at https://hvavra.itch.io/the-witchs-lullaby
Ghost V by Akril15 is at https://akril15.itch.io/ghost-v
Flight from the Robots chapter 2 by Fernewelten is at https://loquimur.itch.io/flight-from-the-robots-2

There may be more. I've only scratched the surface of this jam so far.

Edit: Honza's game is in the db now.

Nice! "Funny" isn't the first word I expected for this game despite some slight humor because it's pretty serious overall but alright ^^
I'll amend it to "fun", then. The prologue showed great cartoonish graphics in the funny animal style. The game starts out with a glimpse into a quite horrible situation quite early on, so you have that clash between the "cute" animals and bad things going on. There also was a possibility to play a sort of pure beat-em-up game to learn the controls, which I admittedly spent the most time on (because I wanted to beat it, of course). That's a good game in its own right. I also liked the voices, even though the croc hero seemed a bit relaxed while calmly examining items while the house around him was on fire.  (laugh) If there was one thing I had problems with, it was jumping and fighting multiple opponents. (I'll admit to just hitting and not blocking enough - I'm not an expert at action games at all.)

The parser and questioning method seems interesting. As an old text adventure buff I look forward to trying it out. The story premise is solid, too.

Note: You may get fewer betatesters when you want them to record on video and comment live.

That's great news. I remember playing the prologue, and it was very funny!

The city looks beautiful. The cyberpet story sounds like it could have some potential for surprises!

The author of Lance the Penguin also made a couple of demos that work as standalone short games:
Persephone's Diary: Secrets of the South is at http://www.mediafire.com/?567kocrya42ianj
Jimmy Goodlove: Serial Killer Fugitive is at http://www.mediafire.com/?h32y9z5pm4l3td1

These are a bit of an aquired taste, as the graphics are, to put it mildly, not the strong suit of the games. Play Lance the Penguin first and see if you want more or not. The Jimmy Goodlove game has some humour I found in a bit of poor taste, as you may expect when the protagonist is a serial killer. Note that I don't exactly recommend these games, but I think they belong in the thread for the purpose of complete AGS availability.

With this setting, time period and horror theme, Clock Tower comes to my mind.
That's his favourite game, so I guess you couldn't have given a better compliment!  ;-D

I know this one. Haven't watched it yet, but I've read the comics. I read everything by Garth Ennis I can get my hands on.

But I'm packing for a trip, so I'll let someone else answer it.  ;)

So...you changed your mind mid-post?  ;)

No, I just think etymology is harder to get away from than naming practices. (Of course this gets into questions like "What is the native language of Asgard?" and "Where did that language come from?" that simply don't have any answers that make sense. We're not talking Tolkienesque worldbuilding here.)
They go hand in hand, given that Norse names have grammatical gender and are conjugated according to that. But I have no problem accepting that we react to different things.

The naming practice was way worse in Vikings, with surnames hundreds of years early and geographical locations. I mean, if Kattegat were a kingdom, it would be Atlantis. It grinds my gears a bit when people think this is a historical series and not fantasy. I've seen some hotshots proclaiming Thor as the smith god because of the hammer, after seeing that made up explanation in Vikings. Oh well. i prefer Thor in the movies.
