I take my pictures in my bathroom mirror primarily but I loathe the pictures people take where you can see the camera/phone...

I've determined that by holding the phone directly against the glass and angling my phone where the reflection of the lens is aimed right at me, I can get a reasonable quality picture without the phone showing up at all.

Also you all get to see how dirty my bathroom mirror is which is good.

Of course...me too... : ...which uh...explains...the...bathroom setting!....somehow. Look behind you, a three-headed monkey!

And now that you mention it TeenageMutantNinjassasin, I'm pretty certain he did Photochop himself into that picture. Geez Tim, if you're going through all the trouble of faking images for this board you could at least include some gratuitous L3NZ FL4R3!1. It's common courtesy.

I apparently have a thing for mirrors.



I dyed my hair ironically in response to a low quality score at work. It's ironic because the sudden change would imply that I care about the low score, while realistically I don't. And I've been happier over the last week than I've been for the last two years.

I see that you're older than me paolo. Clearly this can mean only one thing. You obviously went back in time to change the date of your conception so that you could steal my birthday!

I don't think I've ever posted in this thread before, so happy belated birthday to everyone for the last 5 years.

BTW, I'm now fully legal in the U.S. Not that I drink...but that's just a choice I made long ago. I'd still hit up the bar with some mates.

I am expressing my moderate concern at a few points of interest:

- Santiago's continued existence.
- The fact that I oh-so-stereotypically took my picture in my bathroom mirror.
- The fact that my cell phone is completely invisible in the picture and I didn't crop anything.
- The picture of The Suitor pleasuring that window with his mouth.
- This apparent bug.
- Bar-ROCK Oh-BAR-mar

As you can see, I've brought my trusty towel.

Oh, and yes, my hair is very polite and moves out of the way of my eyebrows as appropriate for dramatic effect.

If the system requirements show a Pentium III, they mean, "Pentium III processor or equivalent."

According to Wikipedia's article the maximum clocking speed of any Pentium III processor would be 1.4 GHz. Also this site grades your CPU much higher than the Pentium III.

I'm not familiar with the exact processor you're using, but I'd say that as far as your CPU goes, you should be fine. Other factors would include your graphics card and RAM. Note that just because it meets the "System Requirements" listed doesn't strictly mean it will work either. You could be running 1 GB of RAM but if you're running a media player, Windows, MSN, etc, etc, etc...basically you would also need to consider how much of your system's resources are already allotted to your normal functions (those which you would run during gameplay).

I'm really leaning towards hardware...but it's using a generic driver determined by M$ at the moment....so I have my doubts. 8)

But yes, that's it precisely...sometimes it happens multiple times in a row all at once, other times it won't happen for a while...just kind of sporadically.

So my newest roommate gave me a computer which I've been greatly enjoying. However there is one slight problem that's been bugging me. On a seemingly random basis, the entire screen just goes black for a second or two.

The monitor he's given me is quite old...so I think it may just be dying of antiquity. However I'm not entirely certain the drivers that Microsoft has installed are exactly right either. I tried installing graphics drivers and the problem persisted...but the bottom line is that drivers are a lot cheaper (FREE*) than a new monitor.

Also I wouldn't want to go and buy a new monitor just to keep having the same problem if it's not the hardware.

I'm not sure that #define macros would be a good idea for a tip of the day as it would be likely to confuse beginners.

I do have some suggestions for this though:

1) Could it be made possible to view the Start Page without having to open it with the editor? AFAIK unless it's the first page opened, it doesn't open at all. I don't normally want it opened, but I would find it useful to look and see what everyone else is seeing from time to time.
2) Could Tip of the Day be made into a window that could also be opened separately (in its own tab perhaps), from say, the Help menu?
3) Would it be reasonable for a "Next tip" option?
4) Could the tips have hyperlinks to relevant help file entries and/or game tabs?

As for the actual tips...

-Trying to use variables between several scripts? Take a look at the Global variables pane where you can create variables to use in all your scripts. For functions, see import.
-Trying to set up that first character and feeling a bit lost? First you'll need to import the sprites into the Sprite Manager. Next, assign the sprites to a View. Finally, set the view in the character's properties window.
-For smooth-edged sprites you can use alpha channeled sprites. However, these are only available in 32-bit mode, so consider this carefully as it will run more slowly on some older systems.
-Looking for a scripting solution that you're not quite sure how to tackle yourself? Check out the script modules in the AGS forums! Many useful scripts have been provided to make your job easier.

Things like that I guess would be useful for new users.

I'm sorry, but I find this amusing. I'm pretty sure this guy knows he sings poorly (more so in his other videos; this one's not too bad) but I think that might be why he insists on doing it. Anyway, I'm having a sudden craving for raw bovine flesh...

However Matt, I've come up with a more different approach to your problem. Simply tell your manager that you need the time off to go touring with your band. Tell him you'll give him a free CD if he lets you go on paid leave for a few weeks. That will most likely rope him in. But if it doesn't...give him a t-shirt as well. Then he'll have no choice but to let the celebrity have his way.
