I'm at work, but what does this plugin do? I'm guessing it has something to do with managing speech files from within the editor? If so, that's great.

I've actually been putting some thought into it though, and the entire speech system within AGS could really do with a major overhaul. I'm thinking that speech files could be imported as AudioClips that could then be linked to characters directly...then with some indexing and a simple "find ID" function...the speech system could be made much more generic, which would be very nice for any games using extender methods (or even just the player keyword in a multi-player game).

Anyway, that's a completely separate discussion. Thanks for the plugin...I'll have to check it out later.

Happy Birthday JJS. :D

Welcome to the forums Dualnames, Ascovel, and Baron. We're a bunch of elitist jerks around here, so don't be perturbed if we're highly offensive to old farts like yourselves. :=

Anyway, anybody notice that AKATOSH IS BACK!? :D

Happy Peder Johnson Day, EVERYONE! ;D

Take it to Kinko's (not Kinoko's :P), and ask them to make you a poster print. :=

Actually the only copy of my "Born Abroad" U.S. Birth Certificate that I have apparently lost the "raised seal" some years ago, completely invalidating the thing. Sucks, but luckily we have other ways of identifying ourselves! :P

I will gladly join you in making this into a feature length commercial AGS game. :D

Jon don't lie to yourself..

..beards are made out of pubic hair. ::)

Ah, but Snake said that Peder is "scary looking". Clearly a lesser title than "scary".

I love you sir. :=

Why did you shave? >:(

I was about to say that I was in love with you, but then you shaved. Oh well. Guess I'll go back to being straight like always.. ::)

First time on Ben Stiller, but not the first time I've been compared to LaBeouf (sp?).

Personally I think they are both very charismatic, so I take these as compliments. :=

Actually, looking at that picture of Shia (sp?!?) it's astonishing how much he looks like Larry Vales. The truth is out!! I am Larry! :o

@Increator @ me: No. There are no installed Adobe programs that would have and/or did install that service which is not running and was totally unrelated. I ultimately corrected the issues by not using the Internet port of the router at all and only using the other ports. Which frankly doesn't make sense, but it works.

I understand quite fully the purposes of HTTPS, but currently my internet access is being derived from one or more Android applications (testing different applications to see if the cheaper one is better, in the event we purchase one) to use the data services of the phone to allow tethering. However, the free versions of these applications disallow HTTPS.

I have verified that I can access HTTPS secured pages via a proxy site which serves the page back to me via HTTP.

Is there any way to set this type of proxy access up to directly serve HTTPS sites via HTTP?

If not the full applications range from about $10-$30 USD, as a one time fee, so it's not that big of a deal. Just curious more than anything.

Networking on Windows 7

Who told Mr. Gates that completely screwing everyone was a good idea? I think it must have been his financial advisor. The reason I say that is because Microsoft's free help services like their online "[Lack of] Knowledge Base" has absolutely no helpful information. Presumably calling the toll number for support would help though.

You have no idea how many results "windows 7 unidentified network" yields in a Google search. That is unless you are of course actually using Windows 7. For those who aren't using 7, let me just warn you that wired network connections, by default, are considered "Unidentified public network(s)" in Windows 7. Yes, of course it's public, hence the fact that my desktop PC is physically connected. Why wouldn't it be? Oh, and you can't change the type of network without modifying 7's security policies.

Doing that of course just makes it into an "Unidentified work network" though, so that does a lot of good.

Troubleshooting doesn't do any good because the built-in troubleshooter just says "Windows can't fix the problem."

Google, which is normally our friend, seems as lost and confused as I am. Despite the more than two million results, of which I have of course tried every single one and that is not an exaggeration by any means..::)..nothing seems to be fixing the problem.

I tried using Windows XP Mode which worked for a while, until suddenly it didn't. Nothing actually changed, Windows just decided allowing me to have the internet in my room was unacceptable. Rebooting all systems and such normal preliminary troubleshooting did nothing.

Finally I encountered an article on Google that yielded some insight. Manually assigning the Default Gateway of the ethernet port (in addition to modifying 7's security policies and disabling Windows Firewall, which is really just a way of Microsoft controlling what you can do with your network anyway) finally got 7 to recognize it as an identifiable network. But, we're not home just yet.

THE QUESTION:

Given the above information I now have an identified home network connection on the local ethernet port, but it says "No network access". WHY??

Oh, and apparently starting XP Mode gave it network access, but it is local only. I need it to have internet connectivity. Fix it plzkthxbai.

My primary HDD died. Fix it.

Edit: It came back to life. Thanks for fixing it guys. You're the best.

The router is already being used as a DHCP server.

No, they cannot. The ping request times out.

It is on a local LAN using a WNR2000 router..there's two physical systems..Windows XP and Windows 7. The 7 machine is also running Windows XP Mode which is Windows XP under Virtual PC. The 7 machine and the XP Mode can see each other on the network..which is good considering they occupy the same physical space.

The problem is that no matter what I do I can't seem to get the XP machine to see either of the other two..or vice versa. The internet connection is shared fine, and I am hardwired via an ethernet cable.

The computers are all set to the same workgroup name, sharing settings are set appropriately, firewall settings have been dealt with..etc.
