Christopher Columbus is an Idiot is a story about Christopher Columbus being an idiot. Basically! In an attempt to flee the country of Spain from his ridiculous debts, he swindles the Queen into granting him three boats to set out to discover the new worlds. Finding and repairing the boats is, of course, up to him. Sure, themes of colonialism and religion are explored, but it all takes the back seat to stripper librarians, beaver uprisings, nude time gypsies, crying dolphins, dandy fops, addle-brained monarchs, warrior princesses, hipster turkeys, pornographic conspiracies, dragon fetishists, telepathic rabbits, and at least a few references to the baffling 1992 adventure/dungeon crawler/space combat simulator game Inca.
Thi…s is the first part of a planned four part adventure. The second chapter is to take place in the New World (this version includes the first few screens of that), the third chapter takes place in assorted places around the globe, and the fourth takes place with Columbus back in Spain.
Please note this is a very-very-very prototype version. It runs in 320x200 for the moment, so please run it in a window. It also uses 16-bit color to get around the AGS bug that causes music to skip during screen transitions. The graphics are all scribbly MS Paint nonsense, which is placeholder artwork until proper art is added. But, it is a fully playable section of a game, which should at least an hour or two.

If one were to judge a game by its graphics, you'd sort of expect a shaky five minutes of adventuring.
But that is entirely not the case in this game.
There are some absolutely excellent puzzles that are well thought out, a perfect difficulty setting. Some fun dialogues, wacky characters, great humour, many places to explore, I would very much like to see more from Christopher Colombus in the future.
Probably not :( I just don't have the time to devote to it anymore. I have been doing some Let's Plays on Youtube to give some commentary and where I think I made some design mistakes. The latest version I have on my site unlocks the debug mode, so at least you can play (most) of the first part of Act 2.
I also like the game and had a lot of fun with it.
The silly graphics just fit perfectly to the humour :D
But what about Act2-4? Is there any chance they still be released?
you're
fun little game if your up for silly/funny humour :)
