You are Maverick Gunn, treasure hunter and renegade History teacher. You start the morning at home as usual and after a few minutes of conversation with a misterious and dangerous looking man, you are drawn into the chase for a huge diamond...and face to face with an ancient mystery.
This game started as a project in 2007, a LONG time ago. As it happens, it proved to be too much for one person, too many rooms, characters, puzzles, locations, etc.
But at the time, I managed to draw a lot of backgrounds, sprites and characters and even scripted an intro an a percentage of the game opening.…r />
I'm proud of the work I did for this game, considering the low resolution and that I only used Paint, from Windows. So, I was always reminded of this unused art and always unhappy that I wasn't able to do something with it.
With the Coronavirus rampaging through the world and out of work because of it, I founded myself with enough free time and started revisiting these old projects of mine.
So, I watered down A LOT!!! the plot of the game and based on what I've got I created this that I present to you.
Even with this limitations, there are plenty rooms to visit on two different locatiopns, talk to 10 characters, take a few items, use them, pull them, push them.
I hope you enjoy it.
This is not the only project left behind, maybe someday I'll do something with other stuff from other projects.

If you enjoyed the old Indiana Jones games, you'll love this one. It's much better. Puzzles are logical and you never die.
Maverick Gunn is a little gem - that is so clearly inspired by Indiana Jones that it's impossible to miss.
The graphic style is similar, the main character is similar, the gameplay feels similar.
All in all, the graphics are pretty lovely, there are quite a few animations, the music is catchy, the story is interesting and the characters are all fairly distinct.
The puzzles are a bit on the easier side, and fairly straightforward. They hardly account for the playing time of about 2 hours. What takes up a lot of time is the massive amount of dialoge, including some that can only be charactirized as small talk. You might stumble upon recommandations for good books or some music to listen to from time to time. It gives the characters a lot of personality.
There are some smaller annoyances: The walk speed is pretty slow and the amount of text that is on the screen at times should be cut down to make it easier to read. Neither takes away from the overall enjoyment this game will bring you.
The ending teases a sequel and I would love it if this gets done at some point in the future. I would certainly play it - and I suggest you all play this game here. It really is worth it.
Fantastic game, really reminds me of the old LucasArts classics. Beautiful art, good sound effects and a catchy soundtrack. The puzzles were good too. I rate this game 10/10 and I recommend anyone to play it right now.
