The Witch, the Wizard and the Blue Cup is a shortish adventure game that took me around an hour to complete. Playing as a witch you are tasked, without much explanation, with finding a blue cup.
The game provides a number of puzzles, with a riddle and a logic puzzle complimenting the standard inventory puzzles. There's also a mechanic that lets you collect spells that give you additional verbs to use on objects, which I found interesting if a little underused. The difficulty seemed about right to me; I got stuck once or twice but not for very long. The logic puzzle had me stumped for a while, but wasn't actually that difficult once I'd thought about it. The game makes an effort with the world, but doesn't have much time to really flesh it out.
The game's presentation leaves a bit to be desired however. The graphics in the game are very 'noisy' and a little hard on the eyes, and they can make the main character and interface graphics hard to see. I also found that several of the screen exits were far from obvious. Particularly bad are a couple of exits that require you to click in a narrow area near the top of the screen which frequently results in the inventory showing instead. The intro and outro of the game is voiced which is nice to see, but there is a heavy echo effect and no subtitles which makes it difficult to hear what is being said.
However if you can get past the rough presentation there's a lot to like here. I found The Witch, the Wizard and the Blue Cup to be challenging enough to be interesting, while still being logical enough to make sense.
Another fine game from Sinitrena. This time I couldn't find the characteristic seriousness and deeper meaning of her previous productions.
Moreover, she fails to acknowledge the color contrast issues in Fallen Angel and repeats them here with two consecuences: some of the text is hard to read (especially the menus), and most items are almost invisible, both on the map and in the inventory. Be ready to some very careful inspection of the screen, especially right at the beginning.
