Also, my own two bits on this topic...

For those who do enter, if you're needing help in some aspects, don't be shy to team up with someone, or ask for some teammates.

The person might not be planning a MAGS entry himself/herself, but he/she might be willing to contribute in some ways (like maybe a few backgrounds, or even a music track or two.  Even if it might be a bit of proofreading or testing the game, don't be afraid to ask for help).

Aside from the main Fortnightly Writing Competition...

When October rolls around, and the Halloween mood is in, maybe do a sort of "AGS-themed creepypasta writing contest."

Thank you, everyone who remembered my birthday!  (I had forgotten we had this particular thread.)

And happy birthday, Icey Games!

Recruitment / Re: Offer Your Services!

Guess I should "renew" my offer of services, so to speak.

So yeah, I'm DBoyWheeler.  I'm not much when it comes to art or music.  But when it comes to storywriting, I'm quite good.

The services I can offer:
Voice Acting: I sound kind of monotone if I'm not talking directly to another person, but I can sure try.  Maybe play as a character who has kind of a neutral personality (but can still help the protagonist with some info), or maybe a scientist/geek type.

Proofreading: I can proofread dialogues and stuff, and make sure that the text follows proper spelling and grammar.

Story Design: Sure, I'm glad to discuss story ideas, some suggestions for puzzles, and maybe a few quirks of the characters.

That idea sounds like a cool AGS idea.

We should call it "The AGS Tournament", with the list MiteWiseacreLives provided above.

Wow!  Neato stuff!

Sure, I'll save the idea for an MAGS.

I've finally come up with a new activity, to go along with MAGS and OROW... if it's okay with all y'all!

Title: Cross Cultural Exposure

Description: A crazy idea... of combining Japanese anime/manga characters with Western adventure games (both well-known and obscure).  For example, Sailor Moon and the other Sailor scouts in the Space Quest universe.  Or Dragon Ball (original, Z, or GT) in the Quest for Glory universe.  Or maybe One Piece characters in the Monkey Island world (if either of which is your thing).  Perhaps you'd prefer Cardcaptor Sakura in Discworld or Kyrandia.

Or maybe the other way around, with the Daventry Royal Family in one medieval-themed anime (or maybe in the Saint Seiya universe), or Roger Wilco in one of the Tenchi anime (Tenchi Muyo, Tenchi Universe, or Tenchi in Tokyo).  Or maybe something as crazy as Rincewind (from Discworld) in the world of Pokemon!

Whatever it is, just take one anime and one Western (American or European) adventure game, and find a way to combine the two.

Periodicity: Have it occur every three months (yep, a seasonal thing), and have it last about a month long.

Type of competition: There is a winner involved, and voting will go for two weeks after the main competition time ends.

Thread administrator: The winner gets to pick the theme of the next "Cross Cultural Exposure".

So... if this is a go, who wants to pick the first anime/adventure game combo?

Happy birthday me!

Cool!  Thanks.  It's a good thing this thread is in my bookmarks, so I can hunt for something here when I need it.  It may be a long time before I do such a game, but when I'm ready, I'll have the info I need.  Thanks again!  :)

Concerning the RPG with AGS... someday I may want to do something Quest for Glory style.  I can find the Day/Night tutorial thread and the Hunger tutorial thread (and I'd probably do it in the style of the first four QG games where the hero would eat automatically if he had rations), and perhaps other things I can try to search for or ask for if needed, but I thought I'd ask this out of curiosity...

For some of these ideas, I'd probably need more than the 200 save state rooms alloted, so... I'm just guessing this, but for the non-save-state rooms, would they be best for the "overworld" areas?  I'm also guessing you'd need global variables to check if a monster is chasing you or not, and how many screens you'd have to run before the monster loses interest in you and leaves you alone.  If my guess is incorrect, feel free to correct me on this.

Yep, I see we're starting anew with offering of services in the forum.

Since I'm somewhat new to AGS, I may not offer much, but I can serve to aid in brainstorming, and can also serve as a proofreader.  Just ask me in a private message and I can share my email address with you (if you're comfortable with that; if not, then just feel free to share the dialogue and what-not in the private message and I'll check the spelling and grammar for you).
